Many plastic parts are used in motorcycles. It is a material that is lightweight, easy to process, and easy to use, but as a user, it is also a material that is prone to scratches and problems such as whitening and cracking. When Den-Ou attempted to install an air cleaner box, he found that even though it was a brand new part, it had many small scratches on the surface.
Probably a minor scratch caused by hitting the frame or a tool. If it were a white part, it would not be noticeable, but with a black part, there is nothing that can be done. However, Mr. Den-Ou used a certain tool to achieve a clean recovery.
In this issue of MOTO HACK, we introduce this resin parts recovery by Den-Ou. The identity of the tool you are interested in--Daytona's "Resin Black" spray.
This is spray paint with properties optimized for painting resin parts. With general paints, resin parts may not adhere well or crack when bent or stretched, making painting resin parts difficult, but Resin Black has high strength and bites into the resin surface perfectly. Den-Ou's air cleaner box is now almost as good as new!
Of course, Resin Black can be used not only for this, but also for all parts of scooters, such as step boards, fenders, and switch boxes. Not only does it remove scratches, but it also works against UV bleaching! Since it is a spray paint, please use it with careful attention to areas and environments where spraying is not possible.
Scratch removal of resin
March 17, 2021 from Den-Ou's Maintenance Diary
Work Process 1
The new cleaner box for the XR250 Motard fits nicely, but it had numerous scratches on it during installation. The scratch-removing chemicals we had on hand were not enough to remove the scratches, and the box is now in the condition shown in the photo.
Work Process 2
I looked for something that was affordable paint and could be used with resin and found it in Daytona. I cured it and used it.
Work Process 3
It is now completely unnoticeable. I might as well have used this spray can from the beginning instead of buying a new cleaner box. Well, you have to try everything, right?
Thank you for your valuable ideas, "Den-Ou" who introduced the "Scratch removal of resin".
