Pick-up Review
Cub's finest box
Usage
The order was placed in April and delivered in late June.
It is installed on a JA07 Super Cub 110.
Webike has a page for JA07 and I purchased it from that page.
There was a set of mat and sticker, but I ordered the urethane mat separately because I did not need the sticker. The size of the mat did not seem to fit the separately sold mat, but when the manufacturer pointed out the problem, the person in charge at Webike contacted me to ask if I wanted to continue ordering the mat, which could be cut to fit this product.
The holes are pre-drilled for the JA07, and since I was able to obtain a discontinued over-carrier during the ordering period, I installed it after attaching that, but still found the holes in just the right places, so I was able to install it without drilling new holes.
The holes were drilled precisely, and if they were OEM, I think they could be installed without any problems. There are no burrs and the holes are clean.
With the OEM carrier, it is close to the back, and unless you are a small person or a front-rider, the vibration of driving will be transmitted to the box and you will feel quite uncomfortable on your back (I was surprised by the vibration when it hit my back while driving). As for rattling with the carrier, I put down a sponge mat (about 3.6 USD) from a home improvement center, and there is almost no rattling. However, the hinge connecting the lid makes a small rattling sound while riding, which may be bothersome at first.
The box size is as shown in the picture and is quite large, maybe between a JMS M and L.
Although not pictured, the OGK RT33 and Rapide Neo XL sizes fit with room to spare.
The inside is a rough material, so if you are going to a ride with a helmet in it, it is better to put it in a bag or helmet bag.
The locks are secure, and although it is best to avoid valuables, it is safer than putting them on helmet locks. I am usually negative about boxes on motorcycles, but I think the Cub is different, and it has the best box for me. I highly recommend this product to all Cub riders (not only Hunter Cubs designated as a factory option).
The bottom is fixed like this, with the bracket just slightly bent.
I opened a good gap. This hinge rattles when it vibrates.
The inside can easily fit an XL size full face. Urethane mats are sold separately.
The cargo bed is extended with an over carrier.
A cheap rear box can be purchased for a few thousand yen, but this is a very high-end rear box costing 174 USD. I think it is indeed expensive.
However, this is a manufacturer that makes professional delivery boxes, so it's as rugged as they come! There are reinforcing ribs on the bottom and sides that resemble jelly cans, and there is no doubt that these are not just for decoration, but "really work".
The box is not made of steel, which is common in this type of box, so it does not rust, and there is no metallic noise when the stored items dance around inside the box. and above all, it is "cool!
Why are tail boxes so overpriced? This was a very good review that explains why the tail boxes are so expensive!
