GSX-R125 Review

From the Webike Community's My Bike, the "Owner Review Summary" introduces various motorcycles based on the voices of owners who actually ride or have ridden them. In this article, we bring you the real owner's voice about Suzuki's GSX-R125!

This is what GSX-R125 is!

The GSX-R series is Suzuki's flagship model, with all the know-how cultivated in the racing world poured into it to achieve "maximum performance".

The GSX-R125 introduced here bears the GSX-R name, and even though it is a small-displacement model, it carries Suzuki's racing spirit.

The first thing to note about this motorcycle is that it is the only 125㏄ full-cowl supersport produced in Japan (the only import is Aprilia's RS4 125). In other words, if you are looking for a 125㏄, full-cowl supersport, this GSX-R125 is the only one.

The engine is also noteworthy: it is equipped with a liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve single-cylinder engine, which is rare for a 125㏄ model (the CB125R recently underwent a model change and is equipped with the same type, so the GSX-R125 is no longer "only" in its class). ) This engine performs up to high rpm and delivers a heart-pounding acceleration feel. It is not only enjoyable in town, but also on winding roads and even on the race track.

Other features are also outstanding. The 2022 model is compliant with the 2020 domestic emission regulations. regulations in Japan in 2020.

Suzuki also offers the GSX-S125 (cowl-less), but the model's position is naked sport. It is still a sports motorcycle, but it has a friendly character.

In this respect, the GSX-R125 is a supersport model in the direct racer lineage. With this in mind, it may be easy to understand the difference in positioning between the GSX-R125 and GSX-S125.

Average used motorcycle price: Approx. 28,000 USD
36 reviews as of June 9, 2022

Average owner satisfaction score is 3.89 out of 5! (Rated by: 366 users)

First, "Driving," "Looks," "Handling," and "Fuel Economy" are of a high standard with scores of 4 or higher. However, the average score was in the 3-point range, with loadability scoring less than 2 points. The number of evaluations and reviews is high, indicating the popularity of the program.

Now let's see what Webike users have to say.

Many commented that "even at 50 km/h, you feel like you are riding a sports motorcycle," "it turns as if it is riding up to 13,000 rpm," and "the brakes are extremely effective. With a displacement of only 125 cm, it is not as powerful as a big motorcycle. However, the GSX-R125 has been enthusiastically supported by users as a sports motorcycle that is fun to ride and enjoyable to ride.

On the other hand, there are also examples where "loadability," which is listed as a weak point, is covered with aftermarket parts to create touring specifications. Photo: Mr. rrtwin

A quick summary of the GSX-R125

Advantage

The GSX-R series shares the same cool design.
Cornering is great fun!
DOHC engine turns well.
Lots of custom parts.
Fuel consumption of 30 km/L or more
Low maintenance cost with 125cc

Disadvantage

Bending forward is tighter than expected.
No load carrying capacity
Of course, I can't ride highways on a moped because it's a Class 2 moped.
Few selective techniques for tires.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models I got screwed by the 100th anniversary colors. Come on out~ (3 months ago)
I'm sure it will come out! (2 months ago)
It will be out soon! (2 weeks ago)
Finally, it's out, Yatdetaman! (June 24)
It seems to be already in stock. (July certain day)
Maybe it was too early for the rainy season, but it didn't make much sense.
I was attracted to CB125R because I was curious about IMU and DUKE, too, but I'm glad I chose R. I've never ridden DUKE before. I'm laughing just riding around on the motorcycle during the break-in period.
Pros/Satisfactory points

400,000 for this performance (and sensory performance) is impossible, suzukino honki. Engine ultra smooth. Super high pleasure performance, even at 50 km/h, you feel like you are doing a sport (if you don't watch out for fast motorcycles).

Which is faster than MT-07? MT-07 for me, but the GSX-R125 is definitely better for the feeling of interacting with the motorcycle and riding intensely. It's just fun!

Disadvantages and dissatisfactions Not being able to carry luggage or having a tight forward lean is not a disadvantage. That's the kind of motorcycle it is. No cons. The only thing I would say is that it is a low-grade tire for the price, et cetera (keep it as a fun to change).

The headlights were as bad as rumored. The headlights are not dark, but the spotlight distribution limits your field of vision on dark roads. I hope Suzuki will improve it.

Advice for prospective buyers The 125 is a very fun motorcycle, and your skills will be noticed. If you are young, I think you will be able to ride any next motorcycle fast and beautifully if you ride this one. Ride it before you regret it.

The motorcycle is lightweight, so the front end of the is leaning forward, but it is surprisingly good.

Because it is a 125, it cannot be ridden on highways, but it is possible to enjoy the touring routes and fun that can be had with it. It's 100% fun just to drive down the road. I did a day trip of over 600 km myself, and it was totally enjoyable and not tiring at all (in terms of feelings, w/ my old man's body being honest, but wow). You wouldn't "think" of driving 600 km down the road if you could take the highway, right? That's what I mean. There's the fun and touring you can have with the GSX-R125!

Isn't Yoshimura GP-MAGNUM too cheap? I think it's cheaper to buy Yoshimura than to shave off the inside protrusion of the stock muffler! I changed the tires to Pirelli DIABLO ROSSO SPORT. This is about as good a tire as you can get for sport!

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models Purchased as a full cowl that could easily be ridden on a return on a second motorcycle.
Pros/Satisfactory points As is often said, it revs up to 13,000 rpm. It has 15ps, but I feel like it has a little more than that.
I like the way it looks like a full cowl, which is a style from a long time ago.
Disadvantages and dissatisfactions It took a lot of strain on my arms and back until I got used to leaning forward. Once you get used to it, on the contrary, there is a sense of togetherness. Also, it is a little inconvenient at times because you can't get on the bypass.
Advice for prospective buyers The engine revs well, so it was hard to break in the engine, which can only be used up to 5500 rpm. Once the acclimation was over, the motorcyclewas really fun to ride. It is faster than I thought it would be and the speed is quite fast, but it is a 125cc motorcycle, so don't expect too much.

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models The motorcycles I owned were all old and had many problems. As I got older, my physical strength decreased and I wanted a lighter motorcycles. I don't think I will be touring for long distances, and I will retire the year after next, so I was looking for an economical moped. When I went to the motorcycle shop, they happened to have one in stock and I decided on it immediately.
Pros/Satisfactory points Cool!
It's not a moped! Lightweight!
Engine revs to high rpm! Fast for a moped!
Brakes that work like crazy!
It's so light, yet so stable!
I'm having so much fun at the Corner!
Threatening fuel consumption!
Disadvantages and dissatisfactions Custom parts are scarce, although there seem to be a lot of them available in Southeast Asia. The details are cheaply made, and the decals are not aligned to the left and right.
Advice for prospective buyers This motorcycle is an inexpensive way to enjoy the atmosphere of an SS motorcycle! The position may seem tight at first, but you will get used to it (lol). It is a motorcycle that makes me excited even when I am riding normally (^o^).

The GSX-R125's rival, or perhaps a comparison, would be the cowl-less model GSX-S125, which inherits the engine and components of the GSX-R and incorporates the latest technology.
