GSX-S1000GT Review
From the Webike Community's My Bike, the "Owner Review Summary" introduces various motorcycles based on the voices of owners who actually ride or have ridden them. In this issue, we bring you the real voices of owners about the GSX-S1000GT!
That is what the GSX-S1000GT is all about.
Suzuki's GSX-S1000GT is the model to watch in 2022. It is the latest version of the existing GSX-S1000F and has been reborn as a GT (= Grand Tourer) concept as well as the motorcycle's name.
The GSX-S1000GT is equipped with an engine that is derived from the GSX-R1000 and delivers a maximum output of 150 hp. It is also loaded with electronic controls, including traction control, cruise control, engine modes, and up/down quickshift. The GSX-S1000GT is a motorcycle equipped with state-of-the-art riding technology.
It also features expanded loading capacity for cases and Suzuki's first full-color TFT LCD meters. This is connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth and linked to the Bosch "Suzuki mySPIN" app for added convenience. With its high level of comfort, it will be a great help on long touring trips.
The body design of the GT was inspired by jet fighters, and the curvy lines of the previous model were replaced by sharp, straight lines. The design foreshadows a new generation of Suzuki, and many people's image of the brand has been completely changed.
It also shares the same basic bodywork as its sibling, the naked GSX-S1000 model, making it a tourer based on a sports motorcycle. It can be said that this concept is a good combination of comfort as well as excitement.

The high rating for "Ride" is a nod to the fact that this is the latest model and is loaded with electronic controls, and the engine is the same as that of the GSX-R1000.
On the other hand, the "looks" of the motorcycle scored high, but it is also characterized by unique comments from users who are full of Suzuki love.
Let's take a look at what webike users have to say about the looks.
Summary of comments on looks
- I think it looks cool from all angles with the unprecedented full view of the motorcycle.
- The Gundam and Armored Core look cool when viewed from the side.
- The design is unmistakably Suzuki.
- It has a face that has never been seen on a Suzuki motorcycle before.
- It's a design that is not unlike Suzuki's.
In summary, many users liked the looks so much that they fell in love at first sight, but expressions vary.

Once you use the smartphone linkage function, you won't be able to let go of it.

GSX-S1000GT Owner's Voice
Here are some of the most impressive voices among the many reviews.
NAINAI
Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | I have been interested in the GSX-S1000 since it first appeared on the market. With this update, what I had hoped for became a reality, and of course, the uniquely Suzuki (lol) design hit the nail on the head! I couldn't test ride it, but the moment I stepped on it, I knew I had to have it. After the two-cylinder, I decided on a three-cylinder! I was thinking of the Tracer 9GT, but since I am infected with the Suzuki, I decided to use it for touring down the road. |
---|---|
Pros/Satisfactory points | Light and easy to handle, easy to ride that defies expectations. Soft and comfortable ride for back pain sufferers. Assist slipper and quick shifter are easy to use. Sharp design and tank capacity that is at least this much. Very easy to read meter. |
Disadvantages and dissatisfactions | The radiator fan is very active every time I drive around town or stop at a traffic light. I guess the heat exhaust can't be helped. I don't need the rubber on the footpeg. Gas stations are getting fewer and fewer, and I would like to have a range of 300KM or more to spare. It is inconvenient to remove the pillion seat and hook up the wires. Helmet holder should be standard. |
Advice for prospective buyers | It is not a good idea to drive leisurely while enjoying the scenery. It's more like "go fast and go the distance". The multi-tracks tempt you to open up and open up, turn and turn! Be careful, you will lose your license in no time! |

Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | I had a GSXS750, but although I had no concerns about its equipment, performance, or power, my buttocks began to hurt when touring long distances, and although I made various improvements to the seat, the pain in my buttocks did not go away. So last year S1000GT was announced and Japanese sales would start in early 2022, so I made a reservation in December last year and took delivery on February 26, 2022, when Suzuki started Japanese sales on February 17. |
---|---|
Pros/Satisfactory points | I drove 800 km a day for break-in and did not get tired. My buttocks did not get sore. The equipment on it is suitable for long distance touring and comfortable. It has a face that I have never seen on a Suzuki motorcycle before. The pannier case is large and convenient for touring. |
Disadvantages and dissatisfactions | It has a map with a switch of instruments, but you have to import an app called Suzuki MySpin to use this map and control the map, but it is not as expected (poor and cheap) as I had hoped. Grip heaters are optional. The screen is standard and fine, but high-speed driving would be easier with a higher screen because of the wind chill. The motorcycle sometimes got roughed up when riding in strong winds, such as at high speeds. The motorcycle weighs 226kg, so it could be lightweight! |
Advice for prospective buyers | I think the motorcycle looks cool from all angles with an unprecedented full view of the motorcycle. My previous GSXS750 never had any problems, so I am sure this motorcycle will be fine as well. The sound of the exhaust system has always been good and this S1000GT sounds great without the need to replace the exhaust system. |
Tomoyuki
Motive for purchase, intended use, and comparative models | I fell in love with FZ1fazer at first sight when it was announced at the time when it was going to cost a lot of money for maintenance after 15 years. I also had to have my motorcycle inspected. |
---|---|
Pros/Satisfactory points |
100 for looks, 100 for sound. The weight of the motorcycle is not felt as much as expected when driving due to the lower center of gravity than the Fazer. It's fun to drive it down. The quick shifter and cruise control are quite useful. Power mode B is sufficient for everyday use. |
Disadvantages and dissatisfactions | No load capacity at all. I wish panniers were made standard and optional. The helmet lock should be a fixed type that can be used with the main key, not a wire lock. The brakes don't feel tight. The brakes work as hard as you grip them, but they didn't work very well when I took delivery of the motorcycle, so I went back to the shop to have them checked. If the screen was movable, it would be 120 points. My Spin doesn't even reach the itch. Needs improvement. |
Advice for prospective buyers | The motorcycle is easy to handle and will take you from day trips to Hokkaido touring without any complaints. Parts can be used on the previous S1000 and the current KATANA. |

Pros/Satisfactory points |
Easy position and full of electronic controls Long-distance is not a problem for me. When motivated, the athletic performance is as good as SS. Suzuki's unique design |
---|---|
Disadvantages and dissatisfactions | The panniers will not be attached for the time being, so there is no load capacity at all. The part where the linkage with the smartphone does not work. I feel that the low gear is somewhat jerky. |
Advice for prospective buyers |
I think this is perfect for people who want a tourer but want a motorcycle that can be ridden when the need arises. It is a good all-around motorcycle. However, we do not know when the optional items will be available. |
