Tuning the Two-Stroke: KAWASAKI KSR-2 Custom
Webike's Opinion
Here is a "KAWASAKI KSR-2" custom by Webike community user "Sakopapa". The two-stroke engine stands out for its high power output and lightweight design. However, its poor combustion efficiency results in unburned fuel being released directly as exhaust, which has a significant environmental impact. This bike, too, was discontinued due to tightening environmental regulations. That said, the owner notes that parts from the KSR110 can be used interchangeably, offering a wide range of components to customize and enjoy. The compact yet powerful appearance is one of its highlights, with graphics that seem to be etched into the body, giving it a truly unique presence. Thanks to its lightweight build, the bike is easy to handle, and as a two-stroke, it boasts quicker acceleration compared to bikes in the same class. The owner takes advantage of these qualities, using the bike as a second motorcycle and for commuting. Yet, as the stunning gallery photos suggest, it’s also perfect for enjoying short trips.
Despite its charm, the owner admits there are some drawbacks to the bike. For instance, its limited cargo capacity. To address this, a ROUGH & ROAD Aluminum Rear Rack was added. The headlight, which was surprisingly dim, was upgraded to LED, and the indicator light was replaced with a M&H MATSUSHIMA Super Bright LED Bulb, significantly improving the visibility of the gauge. The original steel wheels tended to rust, so they were changed to aluminum wheels for the KSR110 by Thai Kawasaki. To add cohesion to the bike’s look, red MDF Wheel Rim Stripes were applied.
As a two-stroke bike, the exhaust sound becomes louder as oil seeps into the silencer’s wool. When the wool can no longer absorb oil, the oil splatter from the exhaust becomes much worse. After trying various products, the owner found that DAYTONA Silencer Glass Wool was the best option and now buys it repeatedly due to its cost-effectiveness and quantity. The carburetor, which showed signs of wear over time, was tuned using a KEYSTER Carburetor Fuel Adjustment Kit, KITACO Main Jet, and KITACO Pilot Jet. According to the owner, the bike’s quirks and inconveniences only make it more rewarding to customize. It’s the kind of ride that keeps you wanting to tweak and improve it, he says.
