Better Than New: SUZUKI GSX-R1000 Custom by Bright Logic

If someone said, “I want a bike that rides well, turns well, and stops well,” this is the one I’d recommend. That’s how good this GSX-R1000 K9 is. This bike uses the 2009 K9 model as its base and was built by Bright Logic to be put up for sale. Even by today’s standards, its modern specs and dimensions are almost indistinguishable from current models.

On top of that, the bike has been carefully disassembled and rebuilt. Every part has been checked, restored or replaced as needed, properly lubricated, and adjusted to eliminate any discomfort or awkward feeling. Bright Logic has worked their magic here, so even though it starts from a used base, it feels better than brand-new.

Looking at the specs, the 999cc inline-four K9 engine, updated from the earlier K5–K8 designs, has been upgraded with a YOSHIMURA head gasket and a 0.3mm milled cylinder head to increase compression. It also has YOSHIMURA ST-RBR cams, making it quite a high-spec engine. The exhaust is a titanium dual-silencer setup in the same style as stock, but upgraded to a YOSHIMURA Tri-Oval Titanium Dual-end. The electronics feature the YOSHIMURA EM Pro (engine management system), which lets you switch between different control maps, and also adds a pit-lane speed limiter and an auto shifter.

The chassis has been reworked as well. Up front, it has the essential Bright Logic package: a Brembo master cylinder, Brembo calipers, and Brembo T-Drive discs. The rear has a Brembo CNC caliper with new pads and a new T-Drive disc. The drive chain is a black RK 530XXW, matching the bike’s color scheme.

When you see all this, it’s clear the bike has been brought to a whole new level — not just fast, but also confident in corners and powerful when braking. The bodywork has been refitted with brand-new parts, making it shine, and it also has carbon front and rear fenders and a carbon frame cover for less weight and more style.

An ETC (electronic toll collection) reader is also installed, and the tires are replaced with the latest BRIDGESTONE S23s, which is a great addition. And if your budget allows, you can further upgrade with Ohlins front forks, an Ohlins TTX rear shock, Marchesini forged aluminum wheels, YOSHIMURA rearsets, and Bright Logic’s hydraulic clutch kit.
