The Distinctive Design of the Blue Satellite: Kawasaki Z900RS Custom by ARCHI

 11 min read

ARCHI's Z900RS

This Z900RS is one of two machines that were on display at the 2023 Tokyo Motorcycle Show—one in red and one in blue, built by ARCHI, PMC's parts brand for current models. This blue machine is called "Blue Satellite" 2023. It features a deep matte blue base color reminiscent of the night sky, adorned with fireball lines in copper and gold foil, and an impressive honeycomb pattern symbolizing the distinctive billet parts of the ARCHI brand. On the other hand, parts like the slash megaphone exhaust with a large diameter and unique end shape, and the under cowl (ARCHI Chin Spoiler) are reminiscent of air-cooled monster machines that raced in the '80s AMA Superbike Championships. The hardware is also notable because it is equipped with many of the products that were commercialized or developed around the time of the Tokyo Motorcycle Show.

The new steering damper kit enhances riding stability while mitigating aggressive and excessive external inputs. Among the two types of mount brackets, this custom features the ver.ARCHI, which is mounted together with the handle mount on the front side. Another noteworthy aspect is the "jet black plating." The profound black and chrome-plated addition brings brilliance to the high-quality aluminum-machined ARCHI Billet Honeycomb Series and various parts such as the finned covers. It also boasts high corrosion resistance and heat resistance, enhancing the texture and allowing for prolonged enjoyment. Development of these products has progressed by installing various prototypes on actual bikes, and the "Jet Black EDITION" will be added to various parts such as caps, subframes, and cylinder/head mount kits as the first release. Additionally, the second release will include sprocket covers and suspension links. Since these parts are specially processed and produced in small quantities, they will be available for in-store sales only at authorized dealers. With their introduction, new part selection plans will be prepared, making choosing ARCHI parts more enjoyable.

Handle

The Gills Cowl painted in the same matte blue as the body color is installed. The handlebar is the ARCHI TOURING handlebar, made of aluminum and designed to bring the grip closer to the rider. The Jet Black EDITION is installed to match other parts.

The new steering damper kit, featuring a horizontally placed steering damper, offers two types of brackets to choose from on the steering side. This time, the "ver. ARCHI" with the ARCHI logo in the center is installed by co-tightening it with the handle clamp. The brackets are available in three colors: silver, black, and gold (the photo is silver). Additionally, the damper comes in a choice of four colors: platinum, black, red, and gold. The stem top cap cover is also a machined part from ARCHI.

Bodyworks

The fuel tank is equipped with a Jet Black EDITION of ARCHI tank cap rings. The exterior was painted by RUSTIC. The base blue has a matte texture, with the Kawasaki river mark on the right side of the tank. Additionally, a transparent honeycomb pattern reminiscent of the ARCHI Billet Honeycomb series is subtly incorporated. The thick gold foil line and the thin copper foil line on the tank, along with the hand-drawn style Kawasaki and Z948RS letters on the side cover, showcase intricate techniques. The design achieves a good balance with the hard parts.

The Long tail cowl has a sporty and powerful appearance. It is also equipped with a Slight Rear Fender exclusively designed for this cowl. The Pillion Grab Bar for the ARCHI long tail cowl has been enlarged from φ19 to φ22 mm and is available in jet black plated, chrome-plated, or painted black.

Chassis

The Honeycomb Subframe Kit with Swingarm Pivot, Honeycomb Sprocket Cover, and Honeycomb E/G Head Mount / Cylinder Mount Kit is also available in the Jet Black EDITION. Additionally, the finned series features the Finned Dynamo Cover Guard, the Clutch Cover Guard on the right side, and Pulsar Cover, all of which are available in the Jet Black EDITION.

The Honeycomb Rearsets Kit is included in the second release. Note that each part installed on this machine is a prototype, so please refer to the ARCHI website for product coloring and other information.

The rear shocks are YSS MS456 with hydraulic preload and optional blue spring paint, combined with Honeycomb Suspension Link Plates with a 20mm lowered specification.

The exhaust features an exhaust pipe made of SUS304 material, a very thick φ70mm tail pipe made of steel, and a Slash Megaphone Exhaust with a large diameter of 120 x 130mm and an end section that extends toward a slash-cut oval end.
