[Usage]
I commute a little over 8km one way to work on the main road, and also use it as a footpath around the neighborhood, and travel 60km to 70km round trip a few times a month.
[Initial braking
OEM (Semi Metal) :
Pad bites disc when Brake lever is held (sticking together) I'm going to slow down by the feel of it.
Type to slow down with a bang. (However, the bite is not worried about the grip moss)
The brake does not react linearly to the input of the brake lever, but the control is not bad either.
Besra. (Sintered) :
When the brake lever is gripped, the brake feels sweet, but it doesn't have the "thump" of the OEM brake, and it decelerates smoothly.
Linear response to brake lever input.
Controlability is good
[BrakeTouch]
OEM:This is the standard.
Besra:Touch changes quite a bit and feels noticeably firmer than OEM
Braking distance】
OEM:If this is 1
Besra:0.9 place (Stops somewhat shorter than OEM)
I didn't measure it, so it's just a feeling.
[For use on rainy days
OEM:I don't feel any difference in braking power from Dry in terms of feel.
Vesrah:Not used in the rain, but I don't think you can feel the difference in braking power between this and Dry.
Fading resistance
I don't have any experience of hard breaking or continuous long downhill breaking with either OEM or Besra products, so I don't know.
The Besra is a Sintered pad, so it will have better resistance to Fading at high temperatures!
How did it compare to other products?
The OEM Product has about 1mm remaining at about 2,800km. The usage is not to fly especially in the place where there are many Go& Stop, and there is no hard Brake operation.
Life is unknown because the Besra product has not been replaced for a long time. (Hence, no durability rating)
I'm hoping Life is longer than OEM.
[Others]
I think it's a matter of individual difference, but after the replacement, some brake squeal occurred.
The squealing stopped around the time that Pad and disc seemed to hit, and it hasn't occurred since.
Fits: YAMAHA XV920R Virago 81-82, YAMAHA XV750E 81, YAMAHA XV1000 81-82, YAMAHA XS850 80-81, YAMAHA XS850 80-81
I put it on my 83SR500.
I felt that the front brake of the OEM setting was not working well.
It doesn't even seem to lock up at all when I grip it.
In order to increase the effective pad area, it is necessary to customize the Rotor&Caliper, so I was wondering how much I can get back the braking feeling with maintenance first.
I chose this one because of its high coefficient of friction, although I also took into account the high temperature range required.
Naturally, Slide pin and Lever's OilUp are already implemented.
As for the impression, it is the sense that it works on Linear from the grip feeling that is quite hard. However, the effect is weak and not enough at all. My grip strength is around 60kg, but I could not get it to lock even if I gripped it tightly with 4 fingers.
I've driven less than 1000km since installation and the Feel hasn't changed much.
I'm thinking it would be a good Pad with no noticeable wear.
It works better than OEMPad, but it doesn't … lock.View Detail
