I bought the OHLINS TTX39 after saving a lot of money, but it has been lying in the corner of my room for a long time because of the troublesome installation process. The Switch was forced to put in the motivation this time, and finally arrived at the installation.
First of all, the 14R Custom is the standard OHLINS, and I couldn't think of any other choice because it's been adopted as OEM.
The Adjuster can be installed in the same position as the OEM. That's why I look at the Parts List and buy OEM parts such as Bracket, Clip and Bolt separately.
The first thing you need to do is to lift the car with the Center Stand. This was the only time I regretted putting full fuel in the car. It's pretty heavy.
The next step is to remove the OEMSuspension, but the Swing Arm needs to be lifted to release the load on the suspension, so jack it up.
Remove the upper bolt of the OEMSuspension, then remove the LowerLink arm and the lower bolt and the suspension can be removed. Be careful not to drop the suspension on the hard ground, as it will fall with more force than you can imagine.
It was Large strange to work alone to remove the LowerLink arm of the incidental work. The LowerArm is structurally fastened with Bolt & Nut, so you need to make sure you don't rotate either One Side. Fortunately, I had an extra-long spanner, so I managed to use the ground to deal with it.
The installation is just the reverse of the basic procedure, but the TTX39 is not easy to install from the bottom because of the large size of the tank. It's like a circle of wisdom that you canApproach at various angles and manage to get in.
Then you can easily install the lower bolt and lower arm by penetrating the extra-long driver for the upper position.
If you tighten the top and bottom bolts with the prescribed torque, the body installation is complete.
Preload Adjuster installation is done by referring to the OEM and installing the Bracket first. When attaching the adjuster to the bracket, make sure that the wire cable does not interfere with the suspension or the body of the car and that the cable is not bent or twisted at a steep angle.
Clip is done if you put it in the position where the adjuster's Cable will move to free.
Impressions of use. However, the OHLINS TTX has a finer texture, better suspension movement, and a more refined ride quality.
The biggest benefit of this is that it is much easier to adjust the pre-road, so it can be adjusted to suit the weight of the luggage.
Although I got a few cars from kawasaki car from the past, I chose OHLINS for purchasing ZZr 1400 this time. For installation, hook the Center Stand and bite the tree on the bottom of the Tire and loosen the Bolt and shift the bottom LINK, you can lower the Normal Suspension. Although OHLINS installation is the reverse, it was a little wisdom ring state whether the Reserve tank is Large or not, but it was safe to install. It's about an hour. Now I am in the Setting, I tried to make it all loose, but I was not able to ride and ride it. Because it is 176 cm, 84 kg, it may be okay to keep it worn. COM. Adjustment of REB is DialGold and Black, but not by turning it but by turning the 3 mm Hexagonal Wrench inside. The person who wrote earlier is "I can not turn it" I was writing, I could not even turn it. In the manual, there was explanation of the type that is slightly unkind and turning Dial type and hexagon, but this type is not written as this type. So I purchased Long Type's Hexagonal Wrench and it became easier to adjust. Now it's easier to get on a little. I will set it a little more in the future. View Detail
About quality and texture - The rear suspension from Ohlins is made from billet aluminium with detailed machining featuring gold and silver anodized surface finishes, the quality from the overall fit and finish is perfect.About the feeling of use - If you want your upgraded suspension to be noticed by others then Ohlins is the brand to purchase. The rear suspension is obviously way better then the original unit with it's heavier rated spring, preload adjusting collars and compression/rebound damping adjustment knobs and the looks when fitted to the Grom with it's matching gold front forks are just ridiculously good.Products to buy together - The Honda Grom is an inexpensive motorcycle with a lot of low quality parts from the factory, so the purchasing of other high quality parts like this rear suspension from Ohlins would be perfect and the essential product to purchase to complete your suspension upgrade would be the Ohlins front fork insert kit but sadly Webike Japan do not have this product available but you can purchase it from Webike Thailand.Difficulty of installation - The installation of the rear suspension is a intermediate task that took 1.5 hours to complete. Mechanical aptitude, knowledge on disassembling the Honda Grom and the use of basic hand tools is what is required to secure the rear suspension between the frame and the swingarm, then position the remote reservoir as desired.Cost performance and comparison with other products - I find the cost of all the products Ohlins sell to be higher then what most other companies sell their products for and the rear suspension is no different, but this is due to the high quality materials used and the consistent high quality finish of their products.About shipping and packaging - With there being no option for sea freight or EMS for the rear suspension, I had to chose FEDEX which is priced higher then I like to usually spend on shipping. The part was extremely well protected while being covered in bubble wrap and surrounded with air pillows in a sturdy cardboard box.Any concerns, cautions, or advice when purchasing - Webike Japan is the first place I look to for all my motorcycle needs. From service parts to performance products and even motorcycle gear and apparel, Webike always seem to satisfy my needs in regards to availability and pricing.View Detail
View Detail
The Ohlins HO819 Rear Shocks for the Honda Monkey 125 are a game-changer for ride quality and performance. Known for their premium construction, these shocks feature adjustable preload, compression, and rebound damping, allowing for a customized ride tailored to various conditions. The improvement in handling and stability is immediately noticeable, providing a smoother and more controlled ride. I would suggest upgrading the front suspension at the same time however.View Detail
With the Ohlins I got a much better handling of my (Yellow) Monkey on country roads, as well as on gravel. The 'install' booklet does not provide really any information, guess it doesn't need to, as it is normally an easy install. However if you got a grab bar or rear carrier as I have, I wished the install booklet would have given me some indication, which washer to use and some gudelines how to change the coil springs (if necessary) Lucky me I used the installed ones, for below 80kg, but I guess this would be easy as well!?In addition I changed the stock shock nuts with the SP Takegawa stainless ones, looks good.View Detail
