1) I placed the large rubber washers between the bracket and the plastic guard itself.
2) Honda NC mirror stalks are hard to understand! The simplest method is to completely remove the mirror by undoing the top nut and spinning off the mirror - this is LEFT HAND THREAD - so turn your 14mm open-end spanner as if tightening a normal nut. Once the is mirror safely on the bench unbolt the remaining right hand thread bolt from the bar with a ring spanner. Fit the bracket and replace the RHT bolt; tighten. Fit mirror with LHT bolt; tighten while adjusting for view. Much easier this way!...
