■Endless Pads, The Long Road to Product
Let us briefly introduce the process from the development of the pad to its commercial release.
At the Endless Research Center in Saku City, Nagano Prefecture, test materials made by varying the mixing ratio of constituent materials and baking methods are subjected to basic performance tests on a brake dynamometer.
Although the friction materials selected here have been confirmed to have a certain level of performance, they are not immediately available on the market.
The friction materials are narrowed down to a few types, and test pads are made and tested on actual bikes.
Among them, one type with the highest total performance is selected for a long-run test on public roads.
In parallel, we also conduct tests on the track to compare the performance and characteristics of the new friction material with the previous model and other manufacturers' pads.
The road test is then conducted for several thousand kilometers under various conditions such as city streets, highways, winding roads, and rainy days to check the wear and tear resistance.
This process is very important for the pads used on the market, which are not allowed to have any defects in general riding, such as weather resistance and use at extremely low temperatures.
The friction materials selected from a large number of materials through these tests are then manufactured for major sports models, and final tests are conducted in various fields with the cooperation of each manufacturer's teams and stores.
However, just because a product has reached this stage does not mean that it will be marketed.
We often end up just taking data on new materials and manufacturing methods.
Pads are not easy to make, even with cutting-edge technology and new materials.
The repetition of steady testing and passion will give birth to new pads.
■The superior sintered (sintered alloy) technology cultivated in the Nurburgring 24-hour race and other races provides high braking power and control, as well as overwhelmingly improved durability.
That was the embodiment of "endless feeling"!
Based on a vast amount of data and experience, Endless has decided to optimize the use of "carbon" and "ceramic", two materials that represent high-performance materials and are the origin of the name "Super Hybrid Sintered", in order to best match the unique stainless steel rotor of the bike.
In particular, the ceramics are balanced between mild ceramics and hard ceramics to provide superior braking power, control, touch, and release, while at the same time reducing aggressiveness to the brake rotors.
Endless is not a razor-like brake pad that only MotoGP riders can handle, but a pad with a wide sweet spot that allows both advanced riders and beginners to grip and control the brake lever with ease.
Currently, three different types of friction materials are released by devising materials, composition ratios, and manufacturing methods.
The Super Hybrid Sintered has excellent smooth braking and a wide range of control, and we hope that our customers will experience a pleasant deceleration feeling with the brakes.
With high abrasion resistance, it is attractive for a wide range of applications from the race track to the city streets.
Racing Sintered PROII is as easy to handle as Super Hybrid with a slight touch of the fingertip, but it is pleasantly powerful when you grip it from there.
It does not bite or stick to the disc rotor, so it has good release and excellent controllability.
The newly introduced Racing Sintered EVO is like the Racing Sintered PROII with enhanced effectiveness and the heat resistance and abrasion resistance of the Super Hybrid.
Depending on the braking system and how it is used, it may be over-specified.
Please consider the intended use of the product before selecting it.
■A wide variety of manufacturing processes are involved in the production of even a single back plate
The back plate, which determines the brake touch, was also manufactured with great care.
Carbon steel, a 4mm thick plate with high hardness (3.2mm thick is used depending on the model for optimization), is used.
Since it cannot be stamped like the inexpensive thin steel plates typically used for ordinary pads, its production required time-consuming and costly laser cutting.
However, this manufacturing process has resulted in a highly rigid structure that produces a highly precise form and an exquisite touch.
■ Handcrafted manufacturing environment with complete feedback from the racing department
Custom-made in a special sintered oven in the Endless laboratory.
Through the meticulous attention of engineers on a limited number of products—covering aspects such as sintering temperature and pressure, which require very high technical skill and manufacturing control—we are able to produce a product of exceptional quality,
We were able to achieve an overwhelming product quality, consistent and imbued with a sense of soul.
It can no longer be called a mass-production model, but a luxurious construction of 80 pieces per lot, 40 sets, enough for 20 bikes.
Because of this straightforward, almost stubborn manufacturing process, many people thought these motorcycle pads were very expensive when they were first released, but today, due to factors such as exchange rates, genuine stock pads—especially for overseas sports models—have become extremely costly.
Try using it as a replacement or as an option.
You will be able to understand the quality of made-in-Japan manufacturing.
What is the difference between "Super Hybrid Sintered" and "Racing Sintered PROII"?
And what is "Racing Sintered EVO" that uses a new friction material YZ590?
Although it is now run as a 250cc race, the Motegi 7-hour endurance race held at the Twin Ring Motegi Circuit—which is said to be the most demanding on brakes in the world—used to be extremely harsh on brakes due to the increasing performance of liter-class racer replica models.
The "Super Hybrid Sintered Pad" was developed based on the concept of aiming for the championship without replacement, and was successfully demonstrated in 2006
However, with the Motegi 7-Hour Endurance Race now a small-displacement event, the "Racing Sintered PROII" was conceived and developed with the idea of slightly reducing the durability—which has become over-spec for regular races—and enhancing the overall initial bite.
The "Super Hybrid Pad" offers a wide control range, delivering smooth braking even from the slightest input. Because the release response changes linearly with your grip strength, you can clearly feel changes in front and rear suspension height and load, allowing you to confidently and firmly apply the brakes.
On the other hand, the "Racing Sintered PROII" is slightly inferior to the Super Hybrid in wear resistance, but while maintaining excellent controllability, it offers increased overall braking performance from the initial input, comparable to the manufacturer’s stock pads.
Although the pads are more effective, they do not work as abruptly as some racing pads, so they can be used for sports riding on city streets and winding roads.
And now, the "Racing Sintered EVO" is born, using the new friction material "YZ590".
Now that liter-class supersport bikes exceed 200 horsepower, the ENDLESS pad is ENDLESS’ answer to the demand for higher performance at the Motegi Circuit—said to be the toughest on brakes in the world—and in endurance races.
In addition to the excellent controllability, you can experience the outstanding wear resistance and effectiveness.
Super Hybrid Sintered", "Racing Sintered PROII" and "Racing Sintered EVO" each have the above features.
We recommend that you use the brake system according to your machine, brake system, whether you ride in the city, on mountain passes, or on tracks, and according to your personal preferences.
