The current BMW R12 carries the name of the vintage R12 motorcycle sold in the 1930s.
The traditional air-cooled horizontally opposed engine is retained, and the design of the time and the low and long styling are harmonized in a machine that combines the latest features such as mode selection and keyless start, an ambitious work that exudes the unique appeal of BMW.
At low speeds and under light loads, such as when riding around town, the suspension moves softly and responsively, and the seat height with good footing is easy to handle and friendly as a first impression, but the wheel travel is set quite low in order to match the cruiser style and make it look low, so many riders are dissatisfied with the shock absorbing capability under heavy input or when riding over rough terrain under load.
In order to increase the wheel travel, which is considered to be overwhelmingly small for NITRON, the overall length of the suspension (stroke) was increased, and the spring rate and preload were optimized.
While reducing the impact of bottoming out, it provides a safe and comfortable ride with a generous amount of stroke.
The balanced damping characteristics allow you to control the bike while sticking close to the road without too much motion, which greatly increases the freedom of the bike as a cruiser.
This product is equipped with a hydraulic preload adjuster as a standard feature, which enables instantaneous preload change when carrying a load or riding pillion.
In addition to the standard set value, two recommended set values are provided for customers to enjoy the difference of each characteristic according to riding conditions.
The spring is available in turquoise and titanium black.
The R3 series has a 2 way compression (low and high speed) and a 1 way rebound.
It also comes standard with a 3-way damper adjustment system.
The 2-way compression adjuster provides traction at low speeds and stability at high speeds, so it can be used for both street and race use.
In addition, these 3-way adjusters are Nitron's original system and are completely independent from other adjuster areas, allowing for a wide range of precise adjustments.
Ride height adjusters are also standard on all models.(Except for some models)
