■Why is this necessary?
How do we balance the conflicting themes of "cooling efficiency" and "protection performance"?
Pebbles and debris rolled up from the front tires, insects flying at the lights...etc.
These will damage the radiator core which is made up of aluminium fins.
When the fins are crushed, the cooling effect is lost, and in some cases, the water line may be damaged, causing a coolant leak...
■Features made by Etching Factory
The radiator core guard of the etching factory has been tested many times mainly in the 8 hours endurance road race in the midsummer which is the most severe for the radiator.
The placement of the mesh pattern, the thickness of the mesh lines, and the aperture ratio are all based on feedback from the racing scene.
Fine mesh pattern in the center and coarse mesh pattern on both sides.
This ensures that pebbles and debris spun off from the front tire are guarded by a fine mesh in the center that matches the width of the tire.
The coarse meshes on both sides are designed with an aperture ratio that takes into account the conflicting themes of cooling efficiency and protection.
■There is also a reason for the choice of material.
In the case of aluminum or titanium, the mesh line width can only be achieved by lowering the plate thickness (lowering the strength), but by using stainless steel (SUS304 0.8t), the ideal line width can be achieved without lowering the strength.
