Cutting the axle sensor and changing the rev limiter may cause damage to the engine. Please do not do it easily and ask a professional shop to do it.
I want to be able to cruise at 60km/h on my minibike-registered gyro canopy
Three wheeled scooters with two front wheels, such as Yamaha's Tricity, are getting a lot of attention, but the three wheeled scooter with two rear wheels is Honda's gyro series. In particular, the roof-mounted gyro canopy has been used as a working moped, and many people must have seen it at pizza shops and other deliveries.
Although the gyro canopy was a working moped, more and more people are customizing their bikes. One of the most popular customizations is to widen the rear tread width and register the bike as a minibike. Registering the bike as a miniBike eliminates the need to make troublesome two-way right turns and drive at 30km/h, making it easier to use as a commuter in town.
However, due to the fact that the bike is designed to carry a lot of luggage and be used for work, the engine settings have been kept mild to avoid high loads. Because of this, the maximum speed of a new bike is about 55km/h. As a used bike, the maximum speed is only around 50km/h. On major highways, the speed limit is 60km/h, and not being able to drive with the flow of traffic can be stressful and risky.
The concept of the Power Silent Exhaust for the Gyro X Gyro Canopy was to increase the cruising speed by 5km/h.
Double limiter prevents speed... The Gyro series can be roughly divided into the early model chassis numbers 100 and 110. In addition to the rev limiter, the 110 series has an axle sensor that prevents the limiter from being easily released. As a result of various tests, the axle sensor works first and the speed hits the ceiling at about 52km-54km/h. When the axle sensor is cut, the maximum speed becomes 2-3km/h faster, but this time the rev limiter works and the bike stops accelerating.
We started out with the goal of increasing the cruising speed by 5km/h. However, we found that the performance of the exhaust alone was not enough to achieve this goal because it was blocked by the limiter. In addition to increasing the cruising speed, the concept of making the heavy canopy feel lighter was also added.
The exhaust pipe is made up of 3 different diameter pipes If the stock exhaust is designed for quietness only, you can make more power by making the exhaust pipe thicker and the silencer more relaxed, but Honda makes a well balanced exhaust.
It's a good balance. The exhaust pipe is made of three different diameter pipes welded together to create the same shape as the stock exhaust pipe.
The diameter of the pipe is different from the stock. The head part is 15mm diameter like stock but the catalyzer is 38mm diameter which is thinner than stock. By applying the right amount of exhaust pressure, it will help the accelerator from low speed to mid speed, and by making the pipe near the exit and the silencer loose, it will help the push when the engine is turned to the top end.
The silencer is a special design made for the Gyro There are not many silencers available, even from exhaust manufacturers. We have a wide range of silencers and exhaust pipes available for different engine displacements, but not for different models. World Walk did not have a silencer for 50cc that could be used on public roads, so we designed a silencer from scratch for the Gyro series exhaust.
Because the straight structure of the silencer allowed too much exhaust to escape and not enough torque in the low to mid range, we divided the silencer into separate chambers and wrapped it with glass wool to further reduce the volume. The result is a exhaust that has the right amount of haikyu pressure for good low to mid speed response and the volume meets the government and JMCA stocks.
Weight is also lighter than the stock exhaust The stock exhaust has the exhaust pipe, silencer and mounting bracket welded together and weighs 3.56kg.
The Power Silent Exhaust for the Gyro X has a separate exhaust pipe, silencer and bracket and weighs 3.21kg.
All parts of the Power Silent Exhaust for the Gyro series are made from stainless steel, whereas the stock exhaust is made from steel.
The stainless steel exhaust is made from a rust resistant metal that will not rust or corrode over time.
The exhaust pipes are welded from three different diameter pipes and the silencer is wrapped with glass wool. We were able to achieve the concept of making a heavy gyro feel light. In order to increase the cruising speed by another 5kg, the axle sensor must be cut and the rev limiter speed must be changed.
World Walk cut the axle sensor and set the rev limiter to 10000rpm. By changing the exhaust, we were able to check up to 58km/h on the meter reading. With further modifications to the pulleys and other parts, 60km/h is possible.
