No Tourer Can Match Its Long Ride Performance! The New Multistrada with the World’s First Automatic Tracking System [WMS2021]

The new Multistrada V4S was launched in Japan in March. The characteristic beak style is the same as before, but the contents are completely different. While we thought the new V4 engine would be the center of attention, they even prepared a ridiculous flying machine to start the ride.

V4 engine and electronic control support long ride performance

Multistrada V4 S

20210406_1573_d04-min.jpgThe adaptive cruise control can be set from 30 to 160 km/h and the distance between vehicles can be adjusted in four levels. On curves, the IMU detects the bank angle and applies optimal braking control, but don't overdo it. The rider needs to shift his center of gravity.

After 18 years in the series, the Multistrada has been reborn with a V4 engine instead of a V-twin, and a new aluminum monocoque frame instead of a steel truss. The style has been completely changed from the previous model, while keeping the same image.

The engine was a crunchy V4 derived from MotoGP and used in the Panigale, but the Murti V4 has been significantly improved. From the Desmodromic to the general spring return valve system, the durability, normal range torque, and gear ratios were all designed with long touring in mind. Although the maximum output is reduced, it's still 170ps, which is top-class performance.

In addition to this, advanced electronic control is also introduced. It's the world's first motorcycle to feature adaptive cruise control, which automatically tracks the vehicle in front of you on highways. Being able to let the motorcycle do the accelerating and braking is more comfortable than I imagined. In terms of long ride performance, this motorcycle will be hard to beat for the foreseeable future.

The front and rear suspension is electronically controlled by Marzocchi. Optimal settings are achieved by linking to the riding mode.

The seat height can be switched between 810 mm and 830 mm without tools. The photo shows a low example, 172cm tall and 65kg in weight, with a comfortable footing and natural riding position. It's almost like a Big NK sensation.
