Story
A Legendary Motocross Champion
He was supposed to be having fun when entered elementary school, but he was diagnosed with childhood tuberculosis and missed the entire first semester. When he was eight years old, he was given a ride on his older brother's 80cc Tohatsu motorcycle, and was already awakened to motorsports.
His name is Tadao Suzuki, former Yamaha team rider and motocross champion. In addition, as the representative of the SP Tadao Racing Team, he has produced many top riders, including All Japan Road Race champions and WGP (Road Race World Championship) riders.
As the MFJ's best rider, he went on an expedition to Europe in 1970. He raced in an international race in the Netherlands and became the first Japanese rider to win the race. In a test in Belgium, he injured his wrist and then crashed in Bristol, breaking his neck in the process. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance, but returned to Japan with anxiety. He drove to the hospital by himself and caused a big commotion.
Starting with a hobby
If you have read my previous articles of BWK series, you may remember that the founders of many brands were usually once a great rider. But Tadao's story is a little different and interesting.
His family had a lathe shop, and he had been helping out in the family business for a long time, but when he got married, his wife's family's coffee shop had no heir. They were going to tear down the store, so Tadao started a motorcycle shop there. He said "Of course, I like motorcycles, but I think riding them was more of a natural part of my life than something that got me into it. My family had a machine shop, so I can make any motorcycle part I want."
Tadao was making motorcycle exhausts in his family's lathe shop and renovating this coffee shop.
