The Tokyo Motorcycle Show We've All Waited For!

It's the season for the motorcycle show again. Following the exhibition held at Osaka, we enjoyed the motorcycle show at Tokyo last week.

I had a chance to see the Big Sight where the exhibition was held beforehand. If I had to express my impression in a word, I'd say it was gorgeous. The scale of the booths and gimmick of the stage was larger than last year. I think the motorcycle market is getting back its spirit and starting to pick up.

This Year, Backseat Models are Lined Up in Front Row.

Each manufacturer has announced various new models and the trend for this year is ''Adventure'' ''Neo Retro'' and ''Small''. The stars last year were ultra sports models like RC213V-S, NINJAH2, New YZF-R1, but this year models lined up in front are models that usually are in backseat.

Adventure Model Booths were like Expos of Up-to-date Technology.

In the ''Adventure'' category, DUCATI's Multistrada Enduro challenged BMW's GS series with 19 inch wheels, exclusive underparts and advanced electronic control, in order to break the stronghold. TRIUMPH launched its new model, ''Tiger Explorer'' with increased power due to its 138ps 3 Cylinder Power and Semi Active Suspension.

HONDA has released a new model ''CRF1000L African Twin'' The concept of the model is ''can take you anywhere''. It can be used for enduro and will offer a new image to adventure models.

And of course KTM, a company that has a record of 15th straight victory in the DAKAR RALLY was also determined. It was an eye catching exhibition also in terms to divine the future of this energetic category.

Bonneville, Scrambler, XSR900, CB Concept from the Neo Retro Category.

From the ''Neo Retro'' category, first in line is TRIUMPH's new Bonneville that was released this spring. Next DUCATI's SCRAMBLER Sixty2 from the SCRAMBLER series. It is a long-absent 400cc with neo retro concept. XSR900 by YAMAHA doesn't only look neo retro but is equipped with 3 cylinder made from awesome material and is no doubt worth looking forward to. By the way, HONDA has also introduced its first model with air-cooled CB engine.

*Concept CB Type II was introduced to the public for the first time.

With Full-fledged Design and Quality, Small Models may Attract New Fans.

If there was a category called ''Small'', BMW's first small engine model, G310R should be classified as one. DUCATI's SCRAMBLER Sixty2 is also popular among young fans because it can be driven with a normal two-wheel license.

The characteristics of these vehicles are that they don't have reduced engine capacity but are special models designed with style and quality. That means it has the potential to attract new fans.
