Yamaha has announced to launch the sales of the new model "XSR900" and its 60th Anniversary Yellow model "XSR900 60th Anniversary" that load their liquid-cooled inline 3-cylinder engine on April 15th, 2016.

XSR900 is a motorcycle that blends the neo-retro style with the latest technology. It standardly equips devices such as the Traction Control System (TCS), the Assist & Slipper Clutch Mechanism (A&S) or the ABS along with the trusted liquid-cooled inline 3-cylinder engine of "MT-09". It allows the rider to enjoy the fun & exciting drive of an advanced level. Its body is also designed with a metallic texture created by a line of processing methods, and it adopts a radical design method to emphasize its authentic image.

Though the body and the engine of this XSR900 is based on MT-09, what makes it different is its design concept: "Neo-Retro" style. Yamaha states "Neo-Retro" as a category that goes beyond the existing classifications such as supersports or naked. You can enjoy the thrilling drive of the latest technology while exploring its retro appearance or its hidden story. In short, it's a kind that was called Neo-Classic or Post Heritage during the past.

An Advantage of Being a New-Generation Machine

As you take a deeper look at it, you will see its 845cc liquid-cooled inline 3-cylinder, DOHC, 4-valve-per-cylinder engine. It equips the latest technologies such as the Yamaha’s original chip controlled throttle (YCC-T), a plated cylinder, an aluminum forged piston, a primary couple balancer, or the FS (fracture split) connecting rods. Yamaha’s selectable D-MODE, which allows the rider to adjust the engine character from three options, is also there. The rider can also choose the traction control mode from three modes: mode 1, 2 or OFF. It is a high-spec device which regulates the ignition timing, fuel injenction and throttle valve opening in an integrated manner. It also features an assist-and-slipper clutch unit that minimizes rear-wheel hop under aggressive deceleration, and it enables lighter clutch operation to make you ride on streets in a more comfortable manner. You will witness the advantage of the new-generation machine, like its clutch lever effort that has been reduced by 20%.

An Authentic Silhouette That Describes Its Unique Worldview

Details of the XSR900 are finished in an authentic way. The tank cover and the side cover panels are made of pressed aluminum. The light brackets use aluminum die-cast, and the tank suspension brackets use forged aluminum. All in all, XSR900 expresses its unique worldview by having a simple silhouette while emphasizing its metallic texture. As for the finishing of the aluminum tank cover, they have put such an effort to make it have the "only-one" specification. The direction or the roughness of the workmanship's buffing differ by each product. Much is expected of this XSR900, for most of the Japanese models haven't been good at generating this kind of authentic or real-thing aura up till now.

Its power-weight-ratio is also quite superb: 110ps maximum output and 195kg body. The 1440mm wheelbase will make it capable of small turns.
