Cost-effective, lightweight, and cool helmet. That's the AGV, K1 series helmet!

AGV helmets are used in MotoGP, a road racing championship that attracts top riders from around the world. But the replica models used by the top riders in MotoGP are too expensive to buy. You could get such a cool helmet!

How much do you know about AGV helmets? So here's my take on the AGV K1 series of helmets!

I'm sure some of you already know this, but I'd like to start with a review. By all means, use this as a reference when choosing a helmet!

What is an AGV helmet anyway?

AGV.jpg

AGV has a long history. The company was founded in 1947 as a manufacturer of leather seats and motorcycle saddles. And it wasn't until the following year, 1948, that the company began manufacturing motorcycle helmets. At that time, there was no full-face helmet series like the K1 series that I wear, and the half-hat type was the mainstream.

The first full-face helmet appeared in Italian national racing in 1969. It was worn by Giacomo Agostini, who later became World Grand Prix champion. It is also used by the legendary Italian rider Valentino Rossi, who has many fans in Japan, and we have a large lineup of replica models.

The helmets imported by Dainese Japan are Asian fit (interior designed for Japanese) and have acquired standards such as SG and MFJ.

What is AGV: K1 series?

The K1 is an AGV model that incorporates technology developed in MotoGP. The interior of the helmet can be made to your favorite fitting by combining optional cheek pads etc. There are 5 ventilation in the front and 2 in the back. Some people are not sure where to open and close the vents at first, so we recommend that you read the instructions carefully! An aero spoiler designed in a wind tunnel suppresses unstable movement and blur of a helmet at high speed and brings stability to reduce fatigue. This silhouette is made possible by the unique edge shape of the AGV, which minimizes the impact on the collarbone in the event of a fall.

The Full Face series comes standard with the Micro Opening System. It is a system to ventilate inside of a helmet with a small amount of wind. By moving a lever in the center of a chin up and down, a shield can be opened and closed a little to take in wind.

What size are you interested in? (What is an Asian fit?)

Since AGV helmets are a brand from Italy, the same helmet is divided into International Fit and Asian Fit. These two types are only different in shell size, and the Asian fit is one or two sizes larger than the international one.

The K1 helmet I own is a size M, so it corresponds to the International Fit size L-XL. Asian fit helmets are marked "ASIAN FIT" on the interior to make it easier to identify them. Also, AGV helmets sold at Webike are Asian fit.

I used to wear SHOEI's size M, but even with the same size M, it is a little narrower than SHOEI's and may feel smaller at first because of the increased fit. However, it did not cause me any pain and I am still using it.

*The AX9 series is only available in international fit.

Evaluation after actual use

The reason why I chose the AGV K1 series helmet is because of the cool silhouette of the K1 helmet and the Rossi graphics on it. The low price and the lightness of the helmet were the deciding factors for me.

Lightness of the cap

I used to use SHOEI's "QWEST" series, although it is no longer available for purchase. Since the Qwest is light in weight, I decided to choose something light so I wouldn't feel a sudden change, so I started by researching the lightness of the cap.

SHOEI (Z-7) 1356g
SHOEI (QWEST) 1447g
AGV (K1) 1510g
Arai (RX-7X) 1620g
SHOEI (X-Fourteen) 1664g

I've actually been able to wear it for years with no strain on my neck whatsoever!

Overwhelmingly cost-performance!

*The price includes tax. (Webike price)

You may already know this, but cost-effective! While following the form of AGV's high-end model PISTA GP-RR series, it has been finished at a price that is widely accepted. With this design, this price is cheap!

Silhouette & Design

Then there's the silhouette .......
It's cost-effective and has a cool silhouette. It's designed to look sleek, so it can be a little sharper than a rounder cap. In addition, because it is designed to have a wide left and right field of vision, it will definitely improve your visibility and safety!

One of the reasons I chose this motorcycle was because my favorite motorcycle is YAMAHA's YZF-R1, and many of the riders on the same model are AGV users.

And finally, the design! The K1 series of AGV helmets for touring is stylish and sporty.
From flashy Valentino Rossi graphics to simple solid colors. A wide range of colors is available.

Get yourself a cool helmet!

What did you think? We hope you enjoyed reading this magazine and are interested in AGV helmets. Webike has many other types and new products in addition to the "K1" series introduced here. On the track, touring, or in town. Usage is different for each person. Please try to find a helmet that suits your motorcycle and style at AGV!
