Honda CB250R Review

I will introduce "Owner Review Summary", a collection of reviews based on the voices of owners who have actually ridden various motorcycles from the Webike Community's My Bike.

In this article, I will bring you the real voices of the owners about the CB250R.

This is what the CB250R is!

The CB250R was introduced in 2018 as a new CB series under the "Neo Sport Cafe" concept, and unusually for a 250cc naked model in recent years, the CB250R features a round, single-eyed headlight, giving it the cafe feel of the concept. The CB250R is also equipped as a neo-sport model, with an engine based on the CBR250R sport model, upside down front forks and 4-pod radial mount calipers, making it different from other 250cc naked models.

At first glance, people tend to focus on the equipment and design, but what is surprising is its lightness. With an equipment weight of 144kg, it is one of the lightest motorcycles in the 250cc class, even with a single-cylinder engine. The lightweight body also makes it easy to maneuver, making it a popular choice for beginners and return riders alike.

Looking at the user's comments, the good points are all the equipment, design, and lightness. On the contrary, as for the bad points, the practical aspects such as tank capacity and maintainability stand out.

A quick summary of the CB250R

Advantage

  • Lightweight (144kg), compact, and easy to handle
  • Low-speed torque and high rpm.
  • All lights are LED.
  • Equipped with upside-down forks and radial-mount calipers
  • Fuel economy is good.

Disadvantage

  • Low tank capacity
  • Poor maintainability for battery and plug replacement
  • Custom parts are scarce.
  • A lot of vibration of a single cylinder.

Foot grounding

About 70% of riders in the 166-170cm height range said that the CB250R's footing was "heel lift".

Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models For commuting, touring on weekends
Strengths/Satisfactory points Light at 144kg, plenty of power at 6,000 to 8,000rpm, great value for money motorcycle that will satisfy all city commuting and weekend touring needs. With 41mm upside-down forks, radial mount calipers, and full LED. It's hard to believe it's in the 250cc class.
Weaknesses and complaints The sound of the exhaust system is the biggest and most significant complaint at the moment, after around 5,000km I'm sure there will be a few other complaints. I will update in the future.
Added after 6,000km ride:
The seat is hard and wide, and the thighs may become numb when riding for a long time. Maybe it depends on the size of your body, but the riding posture is not good. The pipe handlebar is strangely far away even though the spine does not lean forward at all. I think I need to change the rearsets and handlebar.
Advice to prospective buyers. I think it is the best all-around motorcycle among the current Japanese 250cc naked motorcycles in 2020. The engine has the low RPM torque of a single cylinder, but it also accelerates properly at 7,000~9,000 RPM.

Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models For commuting & neighborhood passes
Strengths/Satisfactory points Lightweight and compact. The engine has a lot of torque at low speeds, but also turns honestly at the top. If you like the look of it, buying it is a good idea.
Weaknesses and complaints Accessing the battery and changing plugs is a hassle.
Tank capacity is low.
Vulnerable meter.
Hard-to-use helmet holder.
The stock silencer is big and heavy. (It looks well balanced when you ride it, but when you ride it by itself, it's not so good)
Advice to prospective buyers. I recommend a protective film for the meter. If you damage it accidentally, you will see it every time you ride over and it will reduce your tension a little.

Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models I bought this motorcycle as a second motorcycle to improve my basic riding skills. I also ride it for touring around the neighborhood.
Strengths/Satisfactory points Anyway, lightweight and high rigidity. Even under hard braking and load, the motorcycle body doesn't falter. The vehicle is light in weight and has sufficient power performance. It's great fun on the mountain and on the street.
Weaknesses and complaints Contrary to appearances, the front brakes do not work at all. It's fine for city driving, but if you're looking for some winding fun. At the very least, I recommend replacing the pads. (I don't have any kind.) The front fork also looks too soft. It would be nice if the preload could be changed at least. Also, it's unpopular or there are few aftermarket parts.
Advice to prospective buyers. None
