Honda CT125 Hunter Cub Review
I will introduce "Owner Review Summary", a collection of reviews based on the voices of owners who have actually ridden various motorcycles from the Webike Community's My Bike.
In this article, I will bring you the real voices of the owners about the CT125 Hunter Cub!
This is what the CT125 Hunter Cub is!
The CT125 Hunter Cub was a big hit this year, with reservations pouring in even before its release in June. There's still a waiting list for delivery that seems to exceed six months from the time of order, making the model a symbol of strong motorcycle sales in 2020.
The CT125 Hunter Cub can be described as a modern styling and mechanical recreation of the CT110, which was long sold as a trekking motorcycle. The active image brought by the long front and rear suspensions that can withstand rough terrain, the up muffler, and the large rear carrier is a perfect match for outdoor leisure activities such as camping, which are popular these days.
Looking at the owner's comments, it seems that many people were attracted by the active image of the vehicle and purchased it, and the main uses were "camp touring" and "driving on forest roads". There are also many owners who switched from large motorcycles or purchased the motorcycle as a second motorcycle, which shows that the mechanism, equipment and quality of the motorcycle exceed the boundaries of a "125cc moped motorcycle" even in the eyes of large motorcycle users.
Very little has been said by the owners about their complaints. This seems to be proven by the fact that the CT125 Hunter Cub is ranked number one in the moped category in Webic's motorcycle satisfaction ranking. However, some people said that the seat height is unexpectedly high for a Cub. If you're worried about your footing, it's a good idea to test ride the motorcycle before you buy.

CT125 Hunter Cub Owner's Comments
By Ken
Purpose of purchase, use, comparative models | It was a replacement for my big motorcycle because it started to feel too heavy, and I felt like I didn't hesitate to buy it this time because of my past experience with the first generation Hunter Cub. I thought a little about the Cross Cub, but my family also recommended the Hunter Cub as a good choice. |
---|---|
Strengths/Satisfactory | I'm not sure if it's a Cub, but I'm enjoying it enough for touring. The vibration of the engine was a little loud at first, but I felt comfortable with the sound of the single-cylinder and the vibration transmitted to the steering wheel. The engine characteristic is the feeling that the output is flat and it is suitable for displacement from anywhere, but it accelerates firmly. Because it is fun to ride at a low speed, I can see the surrounding scenery well, so I feel the usual road is fresh. |
Weaknesses and complaints | Even though the seat is high, the rear suspension is not crisp and does not sink in, which is a concern for me as a short person. I put in a lowering suspension (for monkey) immediately. The front brake lever is squishy and doesn't stop even if I grip it until it hits the handlebars, and I can't get enough braking to get the ABS to work. It might be defective. It may be a defective product. It is good to say that it is typical of a motorcycle, but it may have been divided because it is a motorcycle with a rear brake. By the way, the Monkey 125 with ABS was also a little squishy, but you couldn't grip it until it hit the handlebars. |
Advice to prospective buyers. | I said a lot of things, but I think that the perfect thing from the beginning is boring, so I think that you can enjoy the customization that suits you. It's probably made overseas, so it won't last long, but I think it's less likely to break down. |

Purpose of purchase, use, comparative models | I changed from Honda CB1100RS. I have been riding only big motorcycles, but now I want to ride on the forest road with a small motorcycle. |
---|---|
Strengths/Satisfactory | Compared to the CB1100RS, the displacement is about 1/10, but it performs pretty well. The weight is light. Wide steering angle (comfortable U-turn), good fuel economy It has a trip meter, etc. |
Weaknesses and complaints | No shift indicator or clock. The seat is also a little hard (no wrapping feeling when seated). Is it wide enough to handle? Based on the size of the motorcycle and the size of the tires. |
Advice to prospective buyers. | The footing is not good. (The weight of the motorcycle is light, so it doesn't bother me. If you're installing a rear box, you have a lot of options. You can make your own personality. |

Purpose of purchase, use, comparative models | I have a cervical spine and lumbar spine injury, but I can still ride my no-helmet trike, the IMZ Ural Sidecar, so I figured I could still ride a two-wheeled moped, the Hunter Cub! So I decided to try it. Of course, there is also the fact that I have always wanted a Hunter Cub. Intended for light off-road trekking and touring |
---|---|
Strengths/Satisfactory points | Within the framework of a two-class moped, it has sufficient power performance, excellent braking ability, high load capacity, excellent fuel economy, and easy handling. It is a high-end machine of the Cub series that is impeccable! |
Weaknesses and complaints |
The see-saw pedal rotary shift of the Cub system is the opposite of the world standard. My Ural Sidecar shifts up when I step on the heel side, and down when I step on the toe side. If you are not careful, you will often downshift because of the habit. It doesn't matter if you only ride cub or imported see-saw pedal machine, but if you get used to see-saw pedal, you don't want to do toe lift shift change. I hope the fuel pump problem, the Achilles heel of the FI Cub system, has been corrected. The side stand is not well-angled and balanced. If you try to park on the left side of the road, it will fall over if you are not careful. The side stand is not well balanced. |
Advice to prospective buyers. | The family motorcycle rider allows you to make the motorcycle the parent rider and the moped the child rider. A second moped is not a bad idea. The automatic centrifugal clutch mechanism on a Cub-type motorcycle can be ridden with an AT-only motorcycle license and has no clutch lever, but it only disengages the centrifugal clutch when the vehicle is stopped or the engine speed is lowered, and connects the centrifugal clutch when the engine speed is increased. There is also a clutch plate and a shift pedal that also acts as a clutch lever, so when you step on it, the clutch disengages after changing gears, and when you put your foot back on it, it shifts from a semi-clutch to a clutch connection. |
