Yamaha Tricker Owner Review

Introducing the passionate story of Eyeball's who rides the Tricker, from Webike Community's "My Beloved Moto" campaign.

He shares his reviews of the Tricker, including the advantage and the disadvantage, which he understands well because he is the owner.

Brief self-introduction

I've been fortunate enough to be in constant contact with motorcycles for nearly 40 years, except when I was recovering from an injury. I've ridden all kinds of motorcycles from competition machines to SS and sports motorcycles, to off-road motorcycles and scooters, except for the recent classic machines and the category called American. I'm mainly doing perspective touring now, but lately, I've been working? Do you think you put so much effort into maintaining it that you've been asked to do so Maybe that's why I get so many requests for repair (or destruction?) from my colleagues. So I am troubled by the constant requests from my colleagues.

The Tricker was recommended to me by a friend and I bought it as a second motorcycle when it was converted to Fi. Initially, I bought it as a second motorcycle, but! It was convenient, easy to ride, fun, and easy to use, so it soon became my main motorcycle! It became my main motorcycle for exactly 10 years, and I rode it all over the place.

I bought it for off-road riding and trial riding on mountain roads, but as I rode around on it, I had so much fun that it reminded me of my beloved Mini-Train GT50 from high school, a motorcycle that made me feel very nostalgic and brought me back to my youth. Furthermore, it may be just me, but the handling and turning performance with a degree of freedom that is similar to that of a competition TZ are superb.

Satisfaction

I think the advantage of easy to ride and the best for strolling touring in the neighborhood. It is characterized by its light body and nimble driving, which makes it great fun to drive on dry and leveled dirt and woodland roads with its good points. If you can manage the tires and road conditions, you can imitate trials, and if you're good at it, you can do floating turns and log crossings on the stepped sections like in competitions.

It is very easy to drive as it is very good at paved forest roads, which is a sanctuary for trick-or-treaters, as the motorcycle's characteristics are specialized for small turns and cornering. I enjoyed mainly paved forest roads and mountain roads with the Tricker, especially winding paved forest roads and mountain roads. You can't get the best of the guard, but the course with a series of corners was not beaten by the bigger motorcycles in terms of riding. The mini-circuit and gymkhana spin around, so you can enjoy the power of the Tricker.

The small size and lightweight make it easy to maneuver and even a woman can handle it without any worries. In addition, it gets more than 40 kilometers per liter in continuous driving, especially for Fi models. The body and parts are also surprisingly strong, thanks to the off-road Serow's big brother, and the parts are designed to be resistant to breakage, so even if it falls over while off-road, the parts are difficult to break or can be reused in many cases.

For me, it's a cornering machine, but it's also good at slow driving because it's based on the Serow, and it's fun to pedal, so I think it's almost universal in all fields. It would be great if you could choose from a variety of tires to make off-road riding more fun, but that's the problem.

The rear fender was replaced with a Kawasaki off-road fender for a lighter look, the front and rear sprockets were changed, and the exhaust pipes and exhaust system made the motorcycle a little more torquey. The bushing collar inside the swingarm pivot was replaced with a bearing to make the rear suspension more linear, including rebound.

There are not many tuning parts, but it's fun to tune it.

Dissatisfaction

The fuel economy is good, but again, you can't get a lot of tank capacity, so a spare tank is essential when driving deep in the mountains. The tire diameter is small and easy to ride, but due to the special size of the tires, the choice of tires is limited, and it would be a shame to have a variety of tires to choose from to make the Tricker even better.

The seat has been improved with the introduction of Fi, and measures have been taken for long-distance travel, but the design and design are still close to the off-road motorcycles, and the seat is also a little better than off-road and trail motorcycles. I was able to improve it a little by double measures, embedding gelzab in the seat sponge, and installing gelzab for off-road motorcycles.

If you're tall, your knees may be bent tightly, and if you have old injuries, it may hurt. Why do my friends say that the Tricker's riding posture looks good from behind? Maybe it's the footpeg style position.

In terms of driving, due to the size of the front tire, the brakes feel unreliable, like an off-road motorcycle. The front tires are also very thin, so it is a bit nerve-wracking to leave the brakes on like an on-road type brake, but if you try to use the rear brake in a different way, you can manage the braking rush, but I think it lacks power at the start. The Tricker is to use the rear brake in such a way that you can get away with the braking plunge, but I think it lacks power at the start.

The luggage carrying capacity is lacking, it is still a motorcycle that is best suited for a day touring in the vicinity.

The thin front fork is unreliable to look at, and I have improved the look by installing a fork boot for the Serow. Also, the fork oil seems to deteriorate quickly due to the thin forks, so we changed to ash oil to increase durability.

Is it due to engine oil deterioration? The engine can stall, once on a winding road, and then it suddenly stalls! There was no problem, but after that, the oil change was carried out earlier and Ai was removed, so the engine stall did not recur. From the slender, small body and small headlights, it seems to be a small motorcycle, and there were many sudden jumps and interruptions of motorcycles and other vehicles, and there were times when I was agitated.

Summary

I didn't think it would be such a good motorcycle, but it's amazing that even with all this content and equipment, the price of this motorcycle and the ability to ride a motorcycle like the Tricker in Japanese production.

As the name suggests, it's a tricky, trick ride, and you can practice wheelies, brake turns, counter rides, and more with the trickster. And when you ride it, you can feel the racing Yamaha, the freedom of cornering and the balance of the motorcycle is even better than the Serow. Anyway, it's an interesting and pleasant to ride, bicycle-like fun machine.

It is a very good and profound motorcycle for all genders and can be enjoyed by both beginners and experienced riders.
