Triumph STREET TRIPLE Owner Review

Introducing the passionate story from Gray Watch who rides the STREET TRIPLE, from Webike Community's "My Beloved Moto" campaign.

He shared his reviews of the STREET TRIPLE, including the advantage and the disadvantage, which he understands well because he is the owner.

Brief self-introduction

Motorcycle history
I got my medium-sized license (regular automatic motorcycle) when I was a student, but after less than 20 years, I got my limited license (large automatic motorcycle license) when I was over 40 years old. It's so nice to be able to get it at a driving school!

How to I enjoy my motorcycle on a regular basis
I usually only ride on weekends, about 400+ km round trip. Mainly mountain and country roads. I'm not a "STREET" user, I rode it for about a year and increased the mileage modestly by about 12,000km.

Motive for purchase
This is one of the several motorcycles that I have been envisioning "the motorcycle I want to ride someday" for a long time. After watching the movie "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE II (?)", I fell in love with the high-end model "SPEED TRIPLE", and as I researched it, I fell in love with the smarter "STREET TRIPLE".

Personally, I like the silhouette of the older models released up to 2011.

Satisfaction

Anyway, the composition simply traces 'light', 'agile', and 'strong'. To use an example, a Honda HORNET 250 that is 16-17kg heavier than a Honda HORNET 250 by dry weight and 2. The engine that produces more than 5 times the maximum output is on board, and thanks to the iron frame that never twists, it can reach 106 horsepower if it wants to.

It bounces back the vibrations that are transmitted through the thick inverted forks at the front and the sturdy arms at the rear with a firmness that makes it hard to question (good or not). By the way, the tire size is the same as the HORNET 250. Best of all, he's cool in style!

As a hobby, I'll be splitting the woods with this chassis! It's light enough to go!

Dissatisfaction

  • The low-speed fuel consumption (11~13km/liter on ordinary roads, 22~24km/liter on highways) is tolerable, but the low fuel warning light comes on when there are less than 2 liters remaining. On mountain roads, the distance between gas stations is often 30km or more, and I ran out of gas once.
  • This may be a common problem with Triumphs of the same age, but the stock blinkers are too weak. If you get hit by a carnival, there's nothing you can do. The front blinkers have been fixed with rubber glue, and the rear blinkers have been replaced with L.E.D.'s sturdy ones.
  • The key to open the seat often gets jammed. It's hard to get at in the first place!

Otherwise, I have no complaints at all.

Summary

It is recommended for people who just want to drive as they want. Unlike the newer models (2012~), it does not have electronic control, so it rides dynamically even though it is an F.I. vehicle.

With a 3-cylinder engine that blows up well and can actually ride at the maximum output rpm of the catalog value and a 250cc-400cc class chassis with brakes more than adequate for a middle-class vehicle, it turns comfortably from low to high RPMs and stops comfortably.

In fact, the stock silencer doesn't focus on low RPMs, but aims for a thicker torque at 4000-8000 rpm and good extension at higher RPMs. I recommend the old STREET TRIPLE to those who want to be gentle and have their hearts pumping!
