Suzuki DJEBEL250XC Owner Review

Introducing Ninnin's passionate story about his riding experience with his beloved motorcycle, DJEBEL250XC, from Webike Community's "My Beloved Moto" campaign.

Ninnin told us about his review of the DJEBEL250XC, including its advantages and disadvantages, which he knows well because he's the owner.

Brief self-introduction

Motorcycle history and how I usually enjoy it.
Motorcycle history: 30 years since I got my driver's license in the first year of college, and I've been an a-laftie businessman for about 30 years.
How to enjoy: Mainly for touring and camping. I can enjoy riding down the road and taking a hot spring. Long tours with camping gear are great. (I'd love to go back to Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku too!
Annual mileage: about 2,000-3,000km. (I'm still raising my kids and can't go out that much by myself.)

Riding Period
I bought it new in 2000 and rode it for about 3 years. Touring in Hokkaido, Shikoku and Kyushu with it. I was still single, so I loaded up my tent and went on a long touring trip with my motorcycle.

Motive for purchase
I had to scrap my motorcycle after an accident, and I chose a 250 off, hoping to get a lighter, better handling motorcycle next. It had the most power off at the time with 30ps and was selected. I first bought it new when I fell in love with the rally raiding style of the bright blue tank, big lights, big tank, big handguards, and rear carrier as standard.

Satisfaction and Strengths

  • Big 200mm diameter lights (I had a rough and road visor to make it look like a rally raid)
  • A big 17L tank has a range of about 400km.
  • Large hand guards are also standard and well designed.
  • Good loadability (easy-to-load rear seats and rear carrier are standard equipment. Camp touring including forest road play is also possible)
  • The suspension can be easily changed to a lower height. It's easy to set the undercarriage low. It helps you to have a better foot grounding.
  • Reasonable power and size (30PS is the highest power in its class, even at high speed, and it's not easy, but it's different compared to a motorcycle like the Serow).

Dissatisfaction and Weaknesses

  • The battery was quickly draining. Since the motorcycle has a digital meter, the clock and other devices seemed to consume electricity even when the key was off, causing the battery to run out frequently. As a countermeasure, I installed an optional kick starter, but it took me a while to get used to it.
  • The seat is the fate of the off-road motorcycle, and my butt gets very sore after an hour. It's a rally raid type motorcycle, so I wanted to do something about the seat on the premise of driving a long distance. It's really painful and hard.
  • Even though it has the highest horsepower in its class, it's only 30PS, and it's still hard to drive on the highway for a long time.
  • People who don't know me read "DJEBEL" as "Dojebel". (lol)

Summary

  • If you like the rally raid style, buy it. Now it's the CRF250Rally.
  • Big tanks, big lights, large hand guards, and a rear carrier are standard equipment for those who like camp touring and long touring.
  • It's relatively easy to lower the height of the vehicle, so even short people and women can get a better footing. You can go to the forest road without anxiety.
  • I think it's better for people who want to go to the woods because it's more off-road than the current trend of alpine loaders.
