Suzuki V-Strom 250 Review

I will introduce "Owner Review Summary", a collection of reviews based on the voices of owners who have actually ridden various motorcycles from the Webike Community's My Bike.

In this article, I will bring you the real voices of the owner about his V-Strom 250!

This is what the V-Strom 250 is!

The V-Strom 250 is a small displacement model of Suzuki's popular V-Strom adventure series. The unique "beak" design of its siblings, the V-Strom 650 and 1050, is still intact, and even from a distance, you can tell that it's a V-Strom. Nowadays, many companies are introducing small-displacement adventure models, but the V-Strom 250 is the one that started it all.

As well as the unique styling, the adventurous screen and handguards come as standard, contributing to the comfort of the ride. The engine is based on the GSX250R, so it's extremely easy to handle at low speeds.

According to users' comments, it is a perfect motorcycle for leisurely riding around town rather than flying. It also has a very good fuel economy, with many users praising it for riding more than 30km/h per liter. A carrier that doubles as a tandem grip is standard equipment, which is great for adventure models, and an attachment for the stock pannier case is included. With the 3-piece case set, it's got the look of a big adventure model!

As far as complaints are concerned, the weight is heavy for a 250cc model, and some people seem to feel that it is hard to handle. In terms of driving, the gear ratios are comfortable for city driving, but at high speeds such as on highways, the ratios seem to shorten, and many people have changed the sprockets. Also, all the lights are halogen, coupled with the equipment appropriate for an adventure model, which makes it look a little cheap.

A quick summary of the V-Strom 250

Advantage

  • High load capacity and suitable for touring.
  • Easy to handle on the street, perfect for a leisurely ride
  • The unique style of the V-Strom 250 is instantly recognizable.
  • The fuel efficiency of not less than 30km/L.

Disadvantage

  • One of the heaviest for a 250cc model
  • It's hard to handle for some people.
  • The gear ratios are a bit short, and high-speed driving is a bit difficult.
  • All lamps are halogen.

V-Strom 250 foot grounding

About 70% of riders in the 166-170cm height range said that the V-Strom 250's foot grounding "lifted their heels".

Purpose of purchase, use, comparative models I got my driver's license in August with Abeno money. I was going to buy it after a while, but when I saw it in the store, I fell in love with it at first sight. I turned the economy around. I often went camping by bicycle, so I bought it in the hope that I could carry more luggage and go comfortably. I compared it to the VERSYS-X250 and decided to buy this one because of its looks and price.
Strengths/Satisfactory  The black digital meter is a key feature. It has all the information you need in a compact meter. The footing is very good. It also looks big and powerful and is often said that it doesn't look like a 250cc. I can only compare the ride to a training motorcycle, but it's very easy to drive down the road. We'll see what happens on the highways. The gas mileage is insanely good. I can get about 40 liters. It has 17 liters of gasoline, so I only need to fill it up after 500km. Eventually, I'd like to go camping, but I think I'll have to get proficient at driving and handling it lol.
Weaknesses/Complaints Because of its large size, it may have a hard time handling it. However, I think it's easy to handle on the usual flat road.
Advice to prospective buyers Anyway, it's big, so the handling is about the same as a training motorcycle. However, the acceleration is slow and it is a perfect motorcycle for beginners.

Purpose of purchase, use, comparative models I bought this motorcycle to replace my TRX850 because I wanted to tour easily, comfortably, and leisurely at a reasonable price and without inspection.
Strengths/Satisfactory

Anyway, it's a great motorcycle for touring. I can carry a lot of luggage. It's easy to take it easy down the road.

It's comfortable to drive at about the legal speed without going crazy on the highway.

The fuel consumption has never fallen below 30km/h. The cruising range with a full tank of gas is just over 500km. It doesn't have a lot of power, but it has a lot of torque from the bottom and is very easy to handle.

There is no problem at all to drive safely with the flow of motorcycle plus alpha.

Weaknesses/Complaints Engine power can be a bit frustrating at times when you want to fly off the beaten path. It's heavy for a 250 and has a poor foot grounding. But it's not at a particularly problematic level.
Advice to prospective buyers I switched from a big motorcycle, but I was tired of skipping and wanted to tour safely and normally, and this is the best.
It has enough power for normal driving. It is stable to drive, and it has a huge load capacity. If you don't want to skip, it's enough for your needs and will be a great companion. It's a motorcycle that makes you want to ride it again.

Purpose of purchase, use, comparative models I wanted a motorcycle that I wouldn't get tired of owning. It doesn't have great riding performance, nor does it have a sense of ownership. I just chose it as a motorcycle that I could feel comfortable with just by having it there.
Strengths/Satisfactory

Fuel Economy Over 30km/L
- The fuel consumption for 400km touring during the break-in period was 33.4km/L.
- Simple calculation shows that the cruising range is 17L x 30km/L = 510km.

Engine characteristics
- No signs of stalling with an engine that sticks well from low rpm.
- It decelerates in 6th gear and rides surprisingly normally at low rpm.

Style
- American style with a compact, travel-inspired look. It looks great when loaded with side bags or large bags.
- This is an adventure tourer that suits Japanese stature.

Driving performance
- At the pass, the ride is surprisingly brisk and fun.
- It is persistent at low rpm, so even if you make a mistake in gear selection, it is tolerated to some extent.

Weaknesses/ Complaints

Position
-  I'm a petite 167cm tall, but the handlebar position is somewhat cramped.
- Are you prone to butt pain because of your awake posture?
- I'm planning to use an external handlebar to make it a bit wider and more forward-leaning.

Reduction ratio
- Will it be hard to drive at 100km/h when the maximum torque generation speed of 6500rpm is around 80km/h?
- This is the point of concern whether the maximum torque generation speed is a little higher.
- Changed to 15 F sprockets. Improved fuel economy and reduced vibration. More comfortable. Highly recommended.

Texture & Quality
- It doesn't help that it's not a motorcycle that feels like ownership due to its low price point.
- There was a problem with the new motorcycle when it arrived, so I guess we'll have to compromise on quality.

Driving performance
- There's no denying the lack of power on single-digit national highways and BPs.

Advice to prospective buyers I think it's one of the best all-around 250cc models available and I would recommend it. Less power, less top speed, but still modest. It's not that I'm not bogged down with curves and such. The mountain roads are rather fun.

It will have good fuel economy, no inspections, and relatively low oil and tire replacement costs. If you load it up for touring, it will make a great travel motorcycle. I think it's a motorcycle that you can rely on just by having it there.
