Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX Series Review
I will introduce "Owner Review Summary", a collection of reviews based on the voices of owners who have actually ridden various motorcycles from the Webike Community's My Bike.
In this article, I will bring you the real voices of the owners about the Ninja H2 SX/SE/SE+!
This is what the Ninja H2 SX/SE/SE+ is!
Kawasaki's Ninja H2 SX is a touring version of the supercharged H2. 200 horsepower and a supercharger like the H2, but with improved low-speed torque and a new position for more comfortable long tours. has been done. Not only does it have KCMF (Kawasaki Cornering Management Function) for electronic control, but cruise control is now standard on this model.
The higher-end SE model comes with TFT gauges, cornering lights, and a high screen with a quick shifter as standard, while for 2019, the SE+ comes with electronic suspension and brakes with the latest Brembo calipers. It's an unbeatable package for a touring model and has been one of the most popular since its introduction.
Most riders of the Ninja H2 SX were drawn to the supercharger and the variety of electronic controls only found on the H2 series. It seems that many people who enjoy long touring especially enjoy the electronic controls that reduce fatigue from operations such as cruise control and the quick shifter that corresponds to up and down seems to be useful. As for the rest, like the H2, the acceleration by the supercharger and the unique sound of the impeller turning gives a sense of ownership not found on other motorcycles.
A lot of the negatives were the mega-sporting weight of 260kg and the heat of exhaust heat. Others feel that while it has more low-speed torque than the H2, it's still not enough for city driving. Consumables also seem to require regular maintenance of the supercharger as well as tires and oil, so they seem to be more careful about maintaining it than other motorcycles.
Ninja H2 SX/SE/A quick summary of SE+
Advantage
- It's a supercharger!
- There are many electronic controls as well as the H2.
- The cruise control system is ideal for long, high-speed touring.
- SE has a cool TFT LCD meter that is easy to read
- SE+ comes with electronic suspension.
- It's 200hp but feels easier to handle than the H2.
Disadvantage
- 260kg is hard for some people.
- Heat exhaustion is just hot.
- It feels like there's not enough torque at low speed.
- It consumes a lot of consumables and the maintenance cost of the turbine is high.
- Loading capability with the factory pannier case
Ninja H2 SX/SE/SE+ foot grounding
About 80% of riders between 166-170 cm tall reported that the Ninja H2 SX's footing is "heel lifted".

Mr. Straight Line
Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models | I was getting tired of the feeling of being driven fast on the SS, so I looked into a sport-tourer that I could ride without being overbearing, so I switched to the SE+, which was a convenient H2 tourer model that was loaded with the latest technology. I ended up powering up, but I'm down in PWR, so that's good. The plan is for him to be active in a wide range of activities from touring to the track. |

Strengths/Satisfactory points | The feel of the supercharger is unique and cannot be experienced on any other motorcycle. The engine sounds like a very Hanshine-like sound (I can hear a lot of different sounds.) I can hear the sound from the intake well. Even though it's more neutered than the H2, it's still enjoyable enough to enjoy the supercharger, and the back-turbine-like sound that occurs when you turn it up to about 5 or 6,000 and let off the gas pedal is good. The rise of the supercharger is smoother than I expected, as the original compression ratio seems to be high. Gentler than expected on the rise from the second turn. But when I turned KTRC off, it showed its true colors. Brembo brake calipers and radipons feel great. The heavyweight H2SX also works straightforwardly and snappily in response to the amount of operation with no problem. KIBS is excellent, no front ABS activation or malfunctions at low dimensions that I hear about in the early H2 models so far, probably due to the Bosch IMU. The electronic suspension is kind of amazing. I rode it in sport mode and at first I thought it was under, but I played around with the air pressure, which I hadn't played around with since I delivered the motorcycle, and it was neutral, F2.9 seems too high to me. They said they adjusted the damping in real time and it felt good when it was traveling. But it's also a bit uncomfortable when you're riding normally in sport mode. The ride is nimble for its big appearance and I didn't feel it was heavier than I thought it would be. It's not as heavy as the SS and H2, and it's fun to ride it. |
Weaknesses and complaints | If you use the quick shifter at medium to high rpm, it will have less shock and be more stable, but for city driving, manual shifter is better. But if I leave it on, I feel uncomfortable when I use the clutch. I feel like sometimes the throttle doesn't respond itself for a moment, especially when blipping. The electronic throttle feels uncomfortable to operate. Response is poor. When operating with the sense of a wire, there is a discrepancy between the expected opening and the actual opening, which is uncomfortable. When blipping downshifts, the rotation doesn't seem to follow and it feels very uncomfortable. At low RPMs, partial or slight emblems will make the motorcycle wobble due to the supercharger or electronic control. Does the mission have a big backlash? The cackle is strong when the gas pedal is on and off. The reduction ratio between first and second gear feels great and is a wide ratio. The motorcycle decelerates in the intersection and starts to open the gas pedal, and it cracks. I think I have a little bit of this tendency when I'm riding. The throttle position has been narrowed down from 9000 rpm. |
Advice to prospective buyers. | It's just my opinion as a poor amateur, so you should test ride a rental motorcycle before you decide. I think the electric throttle is the result of a balance between sport and touring, and I think it depends on how you feel about it. I think the frustrations I felt could be improved quite a bit with ECU tuning alone. Immediately after delivery, the engine is ridiculously jerky and requires a KEBC, but once you get used to it, the engine is pretty smooth. I think it's better for this motorcycle to break it in. The motorcycle itself is like a pannier attached to a megaspore. I don't think it's an easy position to lean forward quite so strongly. It's quiet at low revs, but the crunching in city driving bothers me. I don't think tourer performance is that high. If you don't enjoy the acceleration and sound of a supercharger, you might be a mismatch. |

Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models | This is because the ZX-10R was announced at the right time when I felt that touring was pretty tough on the ZX-10R. |
---|---|
Strengths/Satisfactory points | 1.The steering wheel position is high and also has cruise control so my wrists don't hurt anymore. 2.KQS made it smoother with no lag in acceleration. 3.It is easy to handle because it has a grab bar. 4.The display shows a lot of information and is safe in many ways. (Especially the amount of gasoline remaining.) 5.It's a deep color, so I think the atmosphere changes with the ambient light. |
Weaknesses and complaints | 1.Maybe it's the seat, or maybe it's the fact that I'm too short to sit in the front, but my butt hurts a lot. 2.I've heard about how Kawasaki motorcycles have trouble getting into 2nd gear when stopped or something, but I've never tried going into neutral on one shot. (I wonder if this is after the engine is turned off?) 3.The auxiliary bar that makes it easier to hang the side stand is shorter than the 10R, and if you don't see it, your foot hits the center stand right away. 4.The dummy duct on the left side from the front, which is reasonably deep, is easily clogged with bugs and dust. 5.Cons/not really a complaint, but I would have liked the tank volume to be in the 20 litre range for a better price. 6.I don't have panniers on and the scarf is one side, so the back side is a bit lonely from the right side lol. |
Advice to prospective buyers. | Even I, who am not blessed with a good physique (165cm), was surprised to see that I had the same legs as the ZX-10R (previous model). Also, the pros and cons are just my honest opinion, so I hope you can use them as a reference to understand that some people think that way. |
Mr. Katsusa
Purpose of purchase, purpose of use, comparative models | The SS is getting harder and harder to position, so this is the only model that has the same level of performance as the SS with the latest electronic controls. The ZH2 was also considered, but it was rejected because of the lack of electronic brain suspension and the anxiety of high-speed touring. I thought about Doca's Stofy, but I was worried about maintenance and reliability, so I rejected it. Long distance two on the mountain passes and high speed, this is a good motorcycle to use. |
---|---|
Strengths/Satisfactory points | State-of-the-art electronic controls and easy-to-use power characteristics. The power and torque are both poor at 3000 and below, while the power at 4000-6000 is mild with good acceleration. 7,000+ is a violent powerhouse, so using this area on public roads is risky. Handling is also calmer than SS. The softness of the electronic brain suspension is very stable during braking (cornering) and the compression will rise immediately. The suspension is supple in a straight line, but it is easy to drive because it is immediately squeezed like a SS. |
Weaknesses and complaints | You need to be careful about starting because of the lack of torque below 3000. I would like to improve this area as it is often used in city cruising. By default, the initials of the electronic suspension are soft, so if you enter a corner with those initials, you'll feel the compression rise and go around more than you expected, so you'll need to raise the initials or get used to the feeling. I'd like to see more color variations. |
Advice to prospective buyers. | Many people think it's a monster because it's the H2 series, but every 200 hp motorcycle is a monster. Under 6000, the engine is very easy to handle, and with its gentle handling, you can use it for long distance touring with no stress. |
