[Simple self-introduction]

・Motorcycle history and how I usually enjoy my motorcycle.
I'm an uncle rider in my 50s. I've been riding motorcycles for about 40 years, starting in high school. The CB50S, RZ50, RZ250R, GPX400R, GPZ900R, K1200RS, K1200S, and the one I'm riding now is the R nineT RACER. Before I got on my current motorcycle, I used it mainly for touring. Recently, I go out to places with scenic views on a day trip and enjoy winding occasionally.

・Period of riding this motorcycle
I purchased it in April 2017 and have been riding it for about three years now, and the mileage has exceeded 20,000km.

・Purchasing motivation
I've been riding mainly a sports tourer, but I was looking for a motorcycle with more style than power when I heard about this motorcycle and fell in love with its style. I loved the air-cooled horizontally opposed engine, the white M color, and the cafe racer style, and I decided to purchase it before the released. I bought the R nineT RACER without even taking for a test ride.

Advantages

・For applications
The sporty riding position motivates me in terms of mainly day touring, traveling at high speed, and enjoying the winding roads. The forward lean is tight, but there is no problem with the foot grounding and the heels of both feet are slightly raised. (Height 175cm)

・For riding
The wheelbase is long for the racer style, and the handling is not quick, but stable. Although the engine is air-cooled, 110PS is generated and sufficient power is needed. Since it's a horizontally opposed engine, the crankshaft is 90 degrees different from the usual engine, so the left and right fluttering feeling is very light. Until now, motorcycles stand on the body when the accelerator is empty, and it was a characteristic that is easy to put to sleep when closed, but rather than controlling the motorcycle body with accelerator work, the enjoyment of controlling it by laying it to sleep by oneself and standing up increases. When you ride at high speed, you can feel as if you were riding in the old ZERO fighter plane. (I have never ridden the ZERO fighter plane but the star-shaped engine is similar to the horizontally opposed one, so I'm just in the mood.) Besides, I think that there is a style through the habit of the horizontally opposed such as the body approaches the right remains when emptying a little in a neutral state, and the preference is divided.

・For appearance
I like the cafe racer style and the white M color. Also, the characteristic of the air-cooled horizontally opposed engine, the presence of the engine is perfect. It's like the body of the motorcycle is attached to a boxer engine that sticks out to the left and right in a compact body. In fact, if you look down even during the ride, the cylinder with fins on the left and right sides of the fuel tank are sticking out on the left and right, which makes it a strong presence. Moreover, the customization is assumed, and the option is abundant. This R nineT RACER also incorporates a lot of parts that BMW collaborated with RSD (ROLAND SANDS DESIGN) which is famous for the custom of HARLEY-DAVIDSON. As you can see in the picture, changing the headcover or belt cover changes the atmosphere greatly and improves the texture.

Disadvantages

・For applications
The disadvantage point of this motorcycle when thinking about the touring application is that the position is too hard of the forward tilt and the lack of load capacity of the luggage. The forward tilt is tighter than SS or the handlebar is far and low. As for the footpegs, it was too far behind and too wide and the brake adjustment is not possible. The footpegs can be improved by changing to a rear sets. I'm riding in a little forward and above the normal position. As for the handlebar part, it is not possible to raise because of the priority of the style, and the arm becomes cramped and the butt hurts after a day of riding. It is a feeling that I got used to finally after about 1 year. The single-seat is so cool that it doesn't take much luggage, but it's not possible to ride it for day trips, but not for overnight trips or camping trips. You can attach a pillion seat, but I am worried because it emphasizes style. Since the optional exhaust system is also an up type, only one side back can be attached. The backpack is ugly and the style is prioritized, so I can't expect anything about loading. Once, I changed to the pillion seat and went to camping, but there was a pretty tight one. I think that this motorcycle is the motorcycle which I will ride without any convenient equipment.

・For riding
Rather than imagining from the style, it is more stable-oriented and does not bend as I thought it would. It may be because of the long hall base. The rear suspension of the normal is an overseas specification or it is a firm and bad reviews without sinking too much. When I adjusted it by pulling out the preload, the movement became a little better. By changing to OHLINS, the riding performance has changed greatly. Is it still a custom premise? Moreover, as an engine characteristic, there was no torque at low and medium-to-low speed for the displacement volume, and it was sometimes stalled embarrassingly. It seems that the fuel is set quite thinly to correspond to the emission regulation of Euro 4 by the air-cooled engine.

・For appearance
Overall, the cafe racer style is cool, and the rear fender that popped out behind is cool. It is a motorcycle that you want to be fenderless immediately. Also, I think that the mirror that popped out of the rocket cowl is also good. I want to change to a grip end mirror. Since the side stand is also short and the body tilts greatly, it was changed to the side stand of long stainless steel.

Summary

Actually, I want to make the main motorcycle a tourer system and dedicated to day-trip winding as a sub-motorcycle, but it is luxurious. But if you want to ride this motorcycle with this style and air-cooled horizontally opposed, and you want to ride in a cafe racer with nostalgic for the old days, R nineT RACER is good for you. There are four R nineT series (R nineT, PURE, SCRAMBLER, and RACER), and it's up to you to decide which one you want to customize.

There is a rumor that the production of the RACER was discontinued prematurely. If you want a new motorcycle, please have R nineT RACER while the dealer is in stock. It is a motorcycle that chooses the rider from the style and position. I think it is better to be considered after a test ride by all means. I may have given up after trying the test ride. Because it's a great forward-leaning riding position. But now I love the R nineT RACER for what it is! I will continue to ride for a long time from now on.
