Joint Motobox Kremer Racing boss Georg Haas has said the ability of his riders to keep “a cool head” played a key role in the team’s capture of a top 10 finish in the 8 Hours of Spa Motos.
The German squad placed 10th in the Formula EWC division in 15th overall as the 2025 FIM Endurance World Championship resumed in Belgium last weekend.
With Sheridan Morais and Twan Smits returning from injury to partner Daniel Rubin after missing the season-opening 24 Heures Motos, Motobox Kremer Racing was able to count on its full-strength line-up for the first time in 2025.
From 26th position, the team was able to climb the overall ranking and was in the top 20 at the halfway point. Despite a fall for Smiths at Eau Rouge with 75 minutes of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps event remaining, Motobox Kremer Racing secured EWC points for the second race running and heads to Japan for the 46th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race (1-3 August) 10th in the provisional Formula EWC team ranking.
“It was a challenging and exciting weekend for the team with many highlights,” said Haas. “After a somewhat disappointing qualifying result, Saturday's race went very well despite the difficult weather conditions. We worked our way up from 26th place to 15th, thus achieving 10th place in the highly competitive EWC class. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to our three riders, who kept a cool head under all circumstances and demonstrated their class. We are now excited about the Suzuka adventure and will continue to experience great moments as a team.”
South Africa-born Morais said: “I am happy with what we achieved as a team this week. We had a really hard start to the weekend after some issues but the team worked so hard together and even just before the race we still changed parts and in the race the bike worked perfectly. My team-mates rode their hearts out and that’s all that I can ask for so thanks to them and every person involved.”
