CRESSON REVEALS HIS HIGH HOPES FOR HOME EWC RACE
Loris Cresson will start his home round of the FIM Endurance World Championship this week with high hopes of success. The Belgian rider reckons the sprint-style format of the 8 Hours of Spa Motos combined with MAXXESS by BMRT3D Pirelli Motul’s fifth-place finish in the season-opening 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans means he can be justified in aiming for a big result at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. Luca De Vleeschauwer wants to underline his potential when he contests his home round of the FIM Endurance World Championship. EWC 8 HOURS OF SPA MOTOS GETS RECORD-BREAKING ENTRY
The FIM Endurance World Championship continues to go from strength to strength with a record-breaking entry for the 8 Hours of Spa Motos, round two of international motorcycle racing’s ultimate test of rider and machine. TOUGH EWC RACE SETS UP MARINO FOR “FAVOURITE” TRACK
Florian Marino is counting the days to the 8 Hours of Spa Motos – because it gives him the chance to race on the track he likes best. Marino will compete for home squad ELF Marc VDS Racing Team/KM99 in the FIM Endurance World Championship counter, which is held on the 6.985-kilometre Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, 40 kilometres from the Yamaha-powered outfit’s base. AG RACING TEAM “STRONG, MORE PREPARED AND MORE DETERMINED” FOR SPA EWC COUNTER
AG Racing Team has vowed to hit back from its disappointment at Le Mans by being “stronger, more prepared and more determined than ever” for the 8 Hours of Spa Motos. The Dunlop-equipped Superstock outfit, which is owned by racer Amandine Creusot, was eliminated from the 24 Heures Motos early in the race following a motorcycle-wrecking crash for Mélodie Coignard in the rain-hit event. WE CAN BUILD A REALLY GOOD HOUSE, SAYS EWC LEGEND CHECA
ERC Endurance’s podium finish in the 24 Heures Motos podium will be the first of many in the FIM Endurance World Championship. Bálint Kovács has vowed to “keep on keeping on” after injury cut short his fifth appearance in the 24 Heures Motos last month. The hero of FIM Endurance World Cup qualifying after he set a new Superstock lap record, Kovács started the Le Mans event from pole position in the Dunlop-equipped category but was out of luck before the completion of the first hour. Infiniteam FLAM Racing has revealed an all-new line-up for the 8 Hours of Spa Motos. After counting on French quartet Thomas Fuhrer, Christian Gentil, Loris Gruau and Ryan Maher in last month’s 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans, the Dunlop-equipped Superstock squad will chase EWC success in Belgium with Bulgaria’s Martin Choy, Swiss teenager Kylian Nestola and local rider David Drieghe. Étienne Masson has a plan to get Yoshimura SERT Motul’s FIM Endurance World Championship title defence back on track when the series resumes in Belgium this week. The Suzuki-powered squad was restricted to sixth place in the season-opening 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans following a succession of crashes, leaving it 35 points adrift of first place in the FIM Endurance World Championship for Teams. TRT27 AZ MOTO REVEALS SUZUKA EWC BID… AND SPA REVENGE PLAN
Leading FIM Endurance World Cup outfit TRT27 AZ Moto is gearing up to contest the 46th Coca Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race this summer – once it’s settled some unfinished Spa business first. The Hoda-powered squad will contest Japan’s EWC counter for the first time in August following the 8 Hours of Spa Motos, which it will enter with Finn Eemeli Lahti and Britons Tom Oliver and Tom Ward. Ivan Kostadinov is all set for a Spa break after joining Uniserv Moto82 for Belgium’s round of the FIM Endurance World Championship. FLYING BUFFS M3 RACING JOINS THE PRODUCTION-BASED EWC RANKS
The production-based FIM Endurance World Trophy is welcoming its latest recruit after Flying Buffs M3 Racing announced its entry for the 8 Hours of Spa Motos. Described as the “fusion of two projects – Flying Buffs and the M3 Racing Team”, it means six outfits will be represented in the EWC’s new-for-2025 entry-level category in Belgium. MRP/TECMAS ALLIANCE RETURNS TO EWC
The MRP/Tecmas alliance is returning to the FIM Endurance World Championship for the 8 Hours of Spa Motos. While it will run under a new name and count on new riders, the target to win in the Dunlop-equipped Superstock category remains unchanged. Competing as Champion-MRP-Tecmas, the outfit will be managed by Tecmas head Arnaud Sassone through a partnership with Werner Daemen’s Belgium-based MRP Racing Team. NO SPA EWC BREAK AS T2C RACING LOOKS AHEAD
T2C Racing won’t be on the starting grid when Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps hosts round two of the 2025 FIM Endurance World Championship. A new permanent EWC team for 2025, T2C Racing was forced to retire from the 24 Heures Motos and has cited its exit from the French season opener behind its decision to skip Belgium’s EWC counter. EWC RACER SOOMER ON SONG IN IDM OPENER
Hannes Soomer took a win and a second place to lead the Internationalen Deutschen Motorradmeisterschaft standings following the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben season opener on 11 May. As well as his reserve rider duties for BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team in the FIM Endurance World Championship, Soomer is contesting a full IDM season with Masteroil-alpha-Van Zon-BMW. PRODUCTION TEAM ARTEC UP AND RUNNING IN EWC
ARTEC marked its first FIM Endurance World Championship appearance as a permanent outfit by finishing the 24 Heures Motos as the runner-up in the all-new FIM Endurance World Trophy for production machinery. Completing the list of classified finishers in 39th position, ARTEC, which stands for Aspi Racing Team Endurance Compétition, endured three falls, damage to its Kawasaki motorcycles and the withdrawal of two of its four riders through injury. Green Team 42 Lycee Sainte Claire was fast but out of luck when the inaugural FIM Endurance World Trophy season got under way at Le Mans. Having dominated qualifying for the 24 Heures Motos, the Kawasaki-powered squad was tipped for further success in the Dunlop-equipped entry-level category, only for a heavy fall to lead to its early exit from the production podium fight. TATI’S “SATISFACTION AND FRUSTRATION” AFTER EARLY EWC LE MANS EXIT
Tati Team AVA6 Racing’s 24 Heures Motos brought “satisfaction and frustration” after electronic issues triggered its early exit. Starting from a fine third as the top independent team following a charging performance in qualifying, Randy Krummenacher excelled in the wet conditions to complete his opening stint in sixth position. HOW A SPECIAL COCKTAIL HELPED MANA-AU COMPETITION TO BEST EWC 24 HEURES MOTOS FINISH YET
Mana-Au Competition scored its best finish so far in the 24 Heures Motos when the team’s new-look line-up of Marco Fetz, Alexis Lamiré and Max Schmidt placed 15th overall and 10th in the Formula EWC category. Competing in the legendary Le Mans race for the 11th time, Mana-Au Competition put its achievement down to a “cocktail of hours of hard work, dedicated staff members, constant motivation, riders representing the team proudly and our sponsors, without whom we couldn't spend such moments”. THEN AND NOW SUCCESS FOR YART EWC CREW CHIEF NEUKIRCHNER
Max Neukirchner celebrated winning the 24 Heures Motos as crew chief to Yamalube YART Yamaha EWC Official Team last month – 18 years on from becoming the first German rider to win the famous Le Mans race. Neukirchner, who is pictured left in both images, partnered Frenchmen William Costes and Guillaume Dietrich to victory in the 2007 edition of the 24-hour contest riding a Suzuki. In his role as YART crew chief – which he took on for the first time in 2024 – Neukirchner oversaw the team’s second 24 Heures Motos victory but a first for its riders Marvin Fritz, Karel Hanika and Jason O’Halloran. MOTOAIN’S STRENGTH IS CLEAR AS IT MAKES EWC RETURN
Motoain returned to the FIM Endurance World Championship at Le Mans after a season away from the EWC. The winner of the 2019-20 FIM Endurance World Cup for Teams was back with its familiar Yamaha YZF - R1 motorcycles but competing under the Motoain Racing Team banner and featuring all-new rider line-up of Vincent Ferre, Pierre Galas and Jorde Manneveau. Despite its best efforts, Motoain Racing Team managed 281 laps before retiring having qualified 37th out of 53 entrants. CLICK FOR FULL STORY.

IT’S MILLER TIME AS YAMAHA BRINGS IN MOTOGP STAR FOR SUZUKA EWC SPECTACULAR
MotoGP race winner Jack Miller has become the latest star rider to join Yamaha Racing Team for the 46th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race, Japan’s round of the FIM Endurance World Championship. Miller, part of the Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP line-up, will partner Katsuyuki Nakasuga plus one as-yet-announced rider in the Wataru Yoshikawa-managed Yamaha Racing Team for the legendary EWC race. EWC SALUTES SUZUKA WINNER ZARCO FOLLOWING FRENCH MOTOGP TRIUMPH
The FIM Endurance World Championship is saluting Johann Zarco after the Frenchman won his home MotoGP race last month, the first French rider to triumph in their home grand prix since Pierre Monneret finished first in 1954. Honda rider Zarco, who was part of the Team HRC with Japan Post line-up that won the EWC-counting 45th Coca-Cola Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Race in July 2024, triumphed in the rain-hit Grand Prix de France at Le Mans, which hosted the EWC season opener in April. TT LEGEND DUNLOP ON THE CHALLENGE OF THE EWC OPENER
Isle of Man TT Races legend Michael Dunlop has spoken about the challenge of competing in the rain-hit FIM Endurance World Championship season opener – while also praising the efforts of Team LRP Poland. Bartłomiej Lewandowski’s BMW-powered outfit, which is run with the support of students from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, is back in the EWC for 2025 after a season away and recruited Northern Irish racer Dunlop to partner Enzo Boulom and Danny Webb for the 24 Heures Motos. PRAISE FOR SPEEDWAY WINNER ZMARZLIK FROM WÓJCIK EWC SQUAD
Wójcik Racing Team has praised Bartosz Zmarzlik after the Polish racer made the perfect start to his historic bid for Speedway GP World Championship number six in the WWK FIM Speedway GP of Germany – Landshut recently. Five-time Speedway GP world champion Zmarzlik, who is bidding to become only the third rider in history to win a sixth gold medal, stormed to victory in the sprint race in Qualifying. Prior to heading to Germany, Zmarzlik was at the Tor Poznań circuit where he was a guest of FIM Endurance World Championship outfit Wójcik Racing Team for the annual Speed Day event. EVENT PREVIEW: WHO WILL BE GREAT OVER EIGHT IN THE EWC AT SPA?
Round two of the FIM Endurance World Championship might be scheduled for 16 hours less than the season opener at Le Mans but the 8 Hours of Spa Motos will be just as tough and intense as the 24 Heures Motos. While there was no holding back on the Circuit Bugatti, the second edition of the 8 Hours of Spa Motos is tipped to be a flat-out sprint from start to finish on Belgium’s ultimate 6.985-kilometre rollercoaster ride. An international platform aimed at inspiring positive change among all affiliated federations and stakeholders, the FIM Sustainability Week’s goal is to establish a global motorcycling community that celebrates everyday efforts toward environmental conservation.
