Étienne Masson has a plan to get Yoshimura SERT Motul’s FIM Endurance World Championship title defence back on track when the series resumes in Belgium next month.

The Suzuki-powered squad was restricted to sixth place in the season-opening 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans following a succession of crashes, leaving it 35 points adrift of first place in the FIM Endurance World Championship for Teams.

As a result, Frenchman Masson is plotting a big haul of points during the upcoming 8 Hours of Spa Motos.

“All these crashes and repairs are unheard of for us,” the 36-year-old said. “But the team worked really well to get the bike back on track every time. That's the positive point. The other satisfaction is that we showed we had the right pace in the race. The negative point is that all these crashes have deprived us of a podium finish or even victory. We lost a lot of points in the championship. We made some mistakes, and we need to learn from them to come back even stronger at the next race.”

Yoshimura SERT Motul Team Manager Damien Saulnier added: “It was a great team effort and a great sporting adventure. We scored some valuable points, but we're behind in the championship. Now we're going to have to get out in front at the next race.”

The 8 Hours of Spa Motos takes place from 6-7 June. Details of how to buy tickets are available HERE.
