Bálint Kovács has vowed to “keep on keeping on” after injury cut short his fifth appearance in the 24 Heures Motos last month.

The hero of FIM Endurance World Cup qualifying after he set a new Superstock lap record, Kovács started the Le Mans event from pole position in the Dunlop-equipped category but was out of luck before the completion of the first hour.

A crash left him with a broken collarbone and required his Hungarian Endurance Racing Team by Moto-Jungle team-mates – all Le Mans rookies – Soma Görbe, Dávid Juhász and Máté Számadó to ride as a trio thereafter.

“I broke my collarbone in the 53rd minute due to an unfortunate fall,” the 23-year-old Kovács said. “I wasn’t alone with the fall and, despite the many trials, the guys performed more than excellent as endurance first-timers and hats off to the team. We keep on keeping on.”

Although Hungarian Endurance Racing Team by Moto-Jungle took the chequered flag after a challenging first 24 Heures Motos, EWC regulations stipulated that it wasn’t listed as a classified finisher.
