Isle of Man TT Races legend Michael Dunlop has spoken about the challenge of competing in the rain-hit FIM Endurance World Championship season opener – while also praising the efforts of Team LRP Poland.

Bartłomiej Lewandowski’s BMW-powered outfit, which is run with the support of students from the Wrocław University of Science and Technology, is back in the EWC for 2025 after a season away and recruited Northern Irish racer Dunlop to partner Enzo Boulom and Danny Webb for last month’s 24 Heures Motos.

Dunlop, whose tally of 29 wins is an Isle of Man TT Races record, said: “It’s a challenge, especially in these conditions because they definitely changed a lot. Probably the worst part is when you leave pitlane, it’s difficult, the weather conditions are up and down. I fell off earlier and didn’t think I was doing anything untoward but I just lost the front on the initial braking, but I’ve been struggling with the front-end feel all week and it’s even worse in these conditions.

“I was wondering why I’m here but it's a challenge and, as a team, we’ve been working really, really hard this week. We’ve all been off today and the bike’s held together, it’s still going. The boys have worked really hard but it’s a challenge and we all have to work together. Thankfully it wasn’t just me who took a tumble so we’re all to blame.”

British rider Webb (pictured in action above) said: “It's hard, it’s treacherous out there, it’s so easy to make a mistake or not a mistake but it can just catch you out and a lot of people have been caught out, all three of us have been caught out.”

Team LRP Poland’s EWC return at Le Mans ultimately came to an end after seven hours of racing following a heavy crash for Boulom entering Le Musée corner at 20h59 local time.
