Every year on 22 April, more than 190 countries come together to celebrate Earth Day — a global moment dedicated to raising awareness and driving action to protect our planet.

At its core, Earth Day is a call for reflection and change: a time to spotlight environmental challenges, inspire individuals, communities, and organisations to act.

The FIM Endurance World Championship celebrated Earth Day 2025 by shining a spotlight on some of the corporate social responsibility actions and initiatives undertaken during the season-opening 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans, France, last weekend (17-20 April).

Each year EWC promoter Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) Sports is committed to highlighting and supporting CSR activities organised in tandem with the championship’s four events, including the 48th edition of the 24 Heures Motos.

Ground-breaking hydrogen motorcycle lap completed
Just before the 2025 season burst into life with an action-packed epic race, the Circuit Bugatti staged a first-of-its-kind demonstration lap by hydrogen-powered motorcycle – the Kawasaki Ninja H2 HySE prototype. This pioneering moment further reflected the commitment of both the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, organiser of the 24 Heures Motos, and WBD Sports, promoter of the FIM Endurance World Championship, towards the decarbonisation of motorsport.

Electric motorcycle and workplace opportunity earns National Motos the first Le Mans Suzuka Positive Award
Awarded for the first time at the 24 Heures Motos, the Le Mans Suzuka Positive Award was presented to National Motos for its Sigma Regen Superbike project. Developed in close conjunction with engineering school Sigma Clermont, it aims to build the first motorcycle to race in the 24 Heures Motos. As part of a wider educational approach, National Motos also welcomed a trainee mechanic from Le Garage École du Mans, a production school co-founded by the ACO, who joined the winning Superstock category team for the 24 Heures Motos weekend. The new Le Mans Suzuka Positive Award trophy was crafted from responsibly sourced French wood and symbolises the positive impact of the three pillars of CSR on the 24 Heures Motos, namely environmental, social and economic.

Patients from the Regional Disability Center visit the 24 Heures Motos thanks to Nous Mêmes
On the Thursday before the race, patients from the Regional Disability Center experienced an exceptional day, accompanied by the roommates from Nous Mêmes. Immersed in the heart of the Bridgestone Cup paddock, a true symbol of inclusion and pushing beyond limits, they had the opportunity to connect with the PMR (reduced mobility) riders of HandiFreeRiders in a powerful and inspiring moment. It was a day full of emotion, rekindling desires, awakening new projects and reigniting long-forgotten dreams. The highlight of this experience was an exclusive visit to the Yoshimura SERT Motul team pit garage and a surprise meeting with former EWC racer Louis Rossi, who generously shared a moment of honesty, simplicity and heartfelt exchange, a perfect example of resilience and genuine happiness.

Significant donation made to Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque
On the occasion of the 48th edition of the 24 Heures Motos, the Automobile Club de l’Ouest presented a €12,000 cheque to the Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque association, a donation that will help save the life of a child suffering from a congenital heart defect. This initiative is part of the ACO’s ongoing commitment to solidarity and humanitarian values, which remain a hallmark of the event. Laurent Cochet, motorcycle content creator and ambassador of Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque, also showed his support by launching the Tombola du Cœur, putting up a symbolic item for the cause: one of his crash helmets.

Handicap assistance performs a key role
As is the case each year, LADAPT provides accessibility support during events held at Le Mans with the aim of assigning, guiding and informing spectators with disabilities to ensure a smooth and inclusive experience for all. For the 24 Heures Motos, the service was further enhanced with the introduction of a dedicated shuttle for people with reduced mobility, making it easier for them to move around the entire venue.

Recycling in focus thanks to Paprec
Paprec, the circuit’s recycling partner, supplied sorting bins around the circuit to give fans the opportunity to actively sort their waste in an eco-friendly manner. The waste was then collected, further sorted and recycled in line with a sustainable waste management approach.

Restos du Cœur: Fighting food waste and helping families
Once again Restos du Cœur benefitted from the generosity of the restaurateurs and caterers operating at the 24 Heures Motos. Uneaten food was collected and donated to the association, helping to prevent waste while providing valuable support to families in need.

Cœur de Pilote partnership continues to support children with serious illness
A not-for-profit association reliant on volunteers, Cœur de Pilote once again brought added social value to the 24 Heures Motos by supporting children with serious illness. A group of 36 children and 59 family members, caregivers and educators from the Pays de la Loire region of France and beyond were invited to Le Mans. They were treated to behind-the-scenes team visits, as well as getting the opportunity to meet riders and watch the track action unfold.

Each year, Cœur de Pilote organises and participates in motorsport-related events to give children the opportunity to savour moments of joy and passion through first-hand experiences achieved by immersing them within participating teams. Cœur de Pilote highlights the positive impact attending events, such as rounds of the EWC, can have in the recovery process, particularly when children get the opportunity to meet riders.

Cœur de Pilote also supports research and other associations committed to similar causes by raising funds that are then donated to them.

All CSR actions and activities undertaken during the 24 Heures Motos were done so in accordance with governing body the FIM (Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme) Environmental Code and in line with the FIM Sustainability Strategy.

Jean-Baptiste Ley, Motorsport Events Director at WBD Sports said: “As a championship promoter we take our corporate social responsibility commitment extremely seriously and the actions and initiatives undertaken during the 24 Heures Motos are just a snapshot of what we’ll be supporting and delivering across the 2025 season.”

The 2025 FIM Endurance World Championship season continues with the 8 Hours of Spa Motos in Belgium from 6-7 June.
