Christian Gamarino’s first season in the FIM Endurance World Championship’s top level might have ended in Bol d’Or disappointment but it was a year full of “honour”, according to the Kawasaki Webike Trickstar rider.
Italian Gamarino stepped up to the EWC’s big league for 2024 having helped Team 33 Louit April Moto win the Superstock-based FIM Endurance World Cup in 2023.
But after beginning his campaign with a fine fourth place in the 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans in April, Gamarino and his Kawasaki Webike Trickstar team endued three consecutive non-finishes.
“My first season in the EWC ends here,” Gamarino said following his Bol d’Or exit. “It was an intense season, from the debut of Le Mans to having the honour of starting my first Suzuka 8 Hours and this Bol d’or. We worked hard but were not that lucky. Thank you to Ryuji Tsuruta and the team for their trust, my team-mates, all sponsors and to those who cheered for the #11.”
David Checa, a three-time winner of the FIM Endurance World Championship title, and his fellow Spaniard, Román Ramos, partnered Gamarino in the Kawasaki Webike Trickstar Bol d'Or line-up. Their race was cut short by engine failure after 92 laps.
