KM99 finished its second FIM Endurance World Championship campaign on a double high at Circuit Paul Ricard on Sunday.
As well as clinching its maiden EWC podium in a fine second place overall from seventh on the grid, the Belgian squad completed the Bol d’Or as the top independent EWC team of 2024.
The all-French line-up of Randy de Puniet, Jérémy Guarnoni and Florian Marino combined in style for Yamaha-powered KM99 with ex-MotoGP racer de Puniet describing the weekend as “a perfect result”.
“It was a really good race for us,” de Puniet said. “In the beginning of the year we made some mistakes but after Suzuka we didn’t make any more. We had some luck during this race, SERT was too fast, the pace was incredible, the BMW too, but they had some trouble at the end of the race and that’s why we finished second. For the team it’s a perfect result, for me too, even if one day I would like to win an endurance race.”
KM99 owner Gaëtan Schyns said: “We are extremely proud of this result, which highlights our capabilities and performance on the world stage. Sharing the podium with the two biggest endurance teams in the world [YART and Yoshimura SERT Motul] is a tremendous honour for us, especially considering this is only our second participation in this iconic race.”
After placing fourth in the final FIM Endurance World Championship for Teams’ ranking, KM99 Team Manager Mario Kupper said: “This result is a major achievement for us, as we have met our goal of becoming the best private team in the World Endurance Championship, and we did it in just our second year of participation.”
