Eemeli Lahti will start next month’s FIM Endurance World Championship season showdown a champion following his title triumph in his native Finland yesterday (Saturday).

The 27-year-old, who made his EWC debut in last year’s Bol d’Or, captured the Finnish Superbike crown for the first time, describing an “amazing” feeling afterwards.

“This was my first Finnish championship title and, of course, it feels amazing,”* Lahti said. “It was actually the first national championship title overall.

“I’ve raced in so many different series but usually I’ve always had something come up which have ruined my hopes of becoming a champion and it’s been due to injuries too many times.

“Now being a superbike champion it’s one milestone done again in my career. Next one is to win a 24-hour race, so no pressure to my team-mates in the Bol d’Or but I'd like to accomplish it already in the Bol d’Or.”

The Bol d’Or takes place at Circuit Paul Ricard in southern France from 12-15 September. Visit FIMEWC soon for more on Lahti’s Bol d’Or participation.
