Race Report

Maiki Abe participated in the "JP 250" class at the "Motegi Road Race Championship Round 1" held at Twin Ring Motegi!

Eventually, it is a cold season but the weather on the day of the race was sunny and the temperature was relatively high so the road condition was good. After struggling with an unfamiliar JP250 machine, Maiki Abe was not so bad with a 17th place in the preliminary round of a time-lapse of 2:21:100 but unfortunately he was fall over at the final. The lack of experience in the race, such as overtaking techniques and determined passing technique in the melee state, led to the result, but there should be many to learn from the failure.

The next race will be held on April 6th (Sat) and 7th (Sun) at the "All Japan Road Race Championship Round 1", which will be held on the Twin Ring Motegi in Tochigi, and Maiki Abe will participate in the co-hosted “MFJ CUP JP 250”! Thank you for your Support!

Maiki Abe Comment

This Motegi road racing championship was my first experience, and I got used to the Motegi course, and I think that it became a great practice to pull out another motorcycle in a corner easily because the course is wide.
Unfortunately, in the 1st corner of the final race, I was too aggressive and I couldn't bend and fell. From now on, I would like to keep track of how far I can go during practice and reduce the chance that I will not be able to bend in the corner during the race.

Abe Director's Comment

This time, it was only JP250 class participation of Maiki Abe.

Since racing is the No. 1 practice for a rider who has little experience in motorcycle history and racing, if he has the chance to gain more racing experience, he will be able to compete in various races and be able to catch up with a rider who is familiar with motorcycle from his age as early as possible. There was a special sport riding on Friday, and there was no riding on Saturday, so it was a Sunday race.

Maiki had little experience racing on the JP250, and his 3rd time on MotoGP 600cc, and the JP250 for the 2nd time, so it was a race in a situation where the setting was not possible.

In the qualifying, the time was reduced by about 2 seconds from the practice run, but it was 2:21:1 in the 17th place.

The race started well with the 1st lap position up to 3 and came back in 14th place. Since the setting has not yet been decided, it seems that it was continuous to go ahead in a straight line and pull it back in the corner. The third corner and the first corner also came back at the 14th place, but it was pulled back with the home straight and pulled back with the entry of the first corner, however, the line was too bad, but it was over speed and suffered a fall, he started again and came back to the pit, but he retired.

In Dirt or Motard shows a considerable speed, after all, I think that the lack of the race experience and the lack of the experience of riding in the circuit still can not connect to the circuit time, and it is difficult to give up the race.

We consider this year as a year of growth and I think that was a good experience this time.

Mitsuo Abe
