Suzuki has announced that the GSX-S1000 street motorcycle has been completely revised and will be released in Europe and around the world from June. The GSX-S1000 is a street motorcycle that uses the engine and chassis of the GSX-R1000 supersport motorcycle, tuned for street use, to deliver exhilarating acceleration and a nimble ride.
The new model has an aggressive and avant-garde design, while retaining the same high level of handling and sport performance. The new motorcycle also features a more powerful engine and a new electronic control system, S.I.R.S. (Suzuki Intelligent Ride System), making it a street motorcycle that is both easier to handle and sportier to ride.
The new GSX-S1000 features the first mono focus LED headlights on a Suzuki motorcycle, arranged in an innovative two-light vertical design. The design also emphasizes the contrast between the beautiful and powerful tank and the sharp cowl lines to express the motorcycle's aggressive, agile and intelligent performance.
The 999cm3 liquid-cooled in-line 4-cylinder engine features an electronically controlled throttle system and a revised intake and exhaust system to improve maximum power output while complying with Euro 5 emissions regulations, which will be introduced in Europe for new motorcycles from 2020.
Newly installed electronic control system S.I.R.S. features include the SDMS (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector), which allows the rider to select from three output characteristics modes, a traction control system with an expanded selection range of five levels, and a bi-directional quick-shift system that allows the rider to shift up or down without operating the clutch lever. By enabling the rider to adapt to the rider's level of experience and changes in the road surface, the new model pursues the rider's enjoyment of riding a street motorcycle, from sporty riding to everyday use.
