It is one of YAMAHA's global priority markets, India. In 2018, we recorded sales of about 780,000 units with actual outlook, but the medium-term management plan of the company has a target of 1.2 million sales by 2021.
The 2019 model of "FZ-FI / FZS-FI" which was conceptualized "Urban Fighter which is powerful and runs through the city" was introduced in the country in late January as a sports model put into such Indian market.
The FZ-FI / FZS-FI is equipped with an air-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder SOHC 2 valve 149cc engine based on BLUE CORE idea that aims at high efficiency combustion, high cooling performance and loss reduction. It will be better to demonstrate higher exercise performance by combining with Bosch made ABS-1ch front brake and monocross suspension.
Styling is a motorcycle body design that leads to a relaxed riding position although it is a sports model. While adopting the strength of the FZ series, it adopts a new style around the front, the tank and the engine look big in one piece.
Other details are equipped with a double seat and grab bar that also take into consideration the comfort of the tandem rider, a liquid crystal display digital meter, an LED headlight, a lightweight and short new design exhaust cover and so on.
The FZ-FI of the STD motorcycle has two colors of METRIC BLACK / RACING BLUE, the advanced specification FZS-FI equipped with an under cowl and plated air intake shaping, etc. MATT BLACK / DARK MATT BLUE / GRAY AND CYAN BLUE is developed in three colors. The price is FZ-FI 95,000 Indian rupees, FZS-FI is 97,000 Indian rupees (both less than 150,000 yen).
It seems that there will be few opportunities to see the real thing for the time being for the model for India for the time being, but from the global strategy of YAMAHA it will be able to be said that it is one of the attention in fortifying the domestic market development in the future.
