KTM has announced the release of the 2025 model Motard "390SMC R" overseas. At the same time, the new full-size 125cc "125SMC R" that shares the same frame will also be released. The lineup that Motard fans will be paying attention to will be enriched.

KTM unveiled many new enduro and supermoto (motard) models at the Milan Show 2025 (EICMA) last fall, which caused a buzz, and has now announced the official release of the motard lineup.
The two models announced this time are the 399cc water-cooled single-cylinder "390SMC R" and the 124cc "125SMC R", which shares the same frame and wheels. The 125SMC R in particular is in an engine displacement range where there are almost no rivals in the current model, and is a new model that will be of interest to fans of lightweight full-size motards.
The body dimensions of both models are almost the same, and they are based on a steel trellis frame that shares the basic design with the third-generation "DUKE" series, and use 17-inch wheels front and rear. The tire size is also the same. The swingarm is a casting derived from the "ADVENTURE" series, and demonstrates the durability inherited from the off-road model.

The front suspension uses a WP Φ43mm APEX open cartridge with 230mm travel. It has 30 levels of compression and rebound adjustment. The rear suspension also features a WP APEX, which has a 20-level rebound adjustment mechanism. The braking system is equipped with a Vibra radial caliper on the front, and the ABS of the rear brake can be cut at will.
The difference between the two models is in the engine and electronic control. The 390SMC R uses a 64mm stroke x 89mm bore "LC4c" water-cooled single-cylinder engine. It has an output of 33kW (44.8PS) and has two ride modes: STREET and SPORT. The 125SMC R is a 124cc water-cooled single cylinder with a stroke of 47.3mm x bore of 58mm, a maximum output of 11kW (14.9PS), and no ride mode settings. In addition, both are equipped with a PASC slipper clutch as standard, and the exhaust gas regulations comply with the latest EURO5+.
A full-size 125cc model that shares the same body dimensions as the KTM 125 SCM R (2025) 390. The equipment is almost the same, and attention is focused on the driving performance that exceeds the 50cc class.
Only one color is available for each model, and prices for both models have not been announced, but orders will begin in early 2025.
Regarding new motard-type models, various companies have been introducing new models since last year, and the mid-range has suddenly become a fierce battleground, with Suzuki already releasing the 400cc "DR-Z4SM" and Kawasaki releasing the "KLX230SM". However, in the 125cc category, the only current model was the Aprilia "SX125". Domestic fans are looking forward to the introduction of the new 50cc class motard, which is easy to handle.
