Crossover of brands handled by the company to challenge TOT
The "Street Fighter Class" was newly established with the concept of bringing a breath of fresh air to the Taste of Tsukuba (TOT) with high-spec street and neo-classical style machines made with modern technology. The scope of modifications is also limited, and to put it simply, the power system can be changed and sub-computers can be added, and the frame can be reinforced while keeping the basic structure intact. In addition, the addition and replacement of bolt-on parts is OK.
This Street Fighter class was held for the first time at the TOT SATSUKI STAGE on May 14, 2022. #51 Shinji Tanaka took pole position in the wet qualifying with a time of 1 minute 9.582 seconds, and in the dry final, he kept the lead from the start and won the championship with a record of 1 minute 4.439 seconds. That machine is the "YSS ARCHI Racing with again Z900RS CAFE". As you can probably tell from the name, the participating parent company is PMC. Shimizu, the archi person in charge, explains the background to the participation as follows.
"One of the themes was to promote brand recognition. We wanted to spread awareness of the two brands handled by PMC, ARCHI, which produces parts for current vehicles, and YSS suspension, which has ample performance potential. Then, when the idea of a new class being created in TOT came up within the company, we decided to enter.
The other was the significance of participating in the new class. As a parts developer, I thought it would be very meaningful, so I decided to enter. There were only a few days between the time we decided and the race, but since we were going to enter, we wanted to aim for as high a position as possible, and eventually the top! So we got the cooperation of Again, who has experience in these types of races."
The motorcycle was a street demo vehicle and was tailored in just two weeks before the main event. Even though there are restrictions on modifications, proper preparation is necessary to complete a base commercial motorcycle as a racing machine. After clearing that, the exterior was designed for the race, and a pre-test was conducted before participating. Although the footpegs were processed to secure the banking angle during the race, the billet honeycomb subframe can be installed at the same time as the engine slider, which is a genuine Z900RS accessory, and each part seems to have been effective in both practicality and appearance. After the race, a limited edition of 30 sets of rear shocks for the Z900RS Champion Edition, commemorating the first champion of the class, were sold.
"In a new class, both the motorcycles and the riders were fast, and I think we were able to appeal to the brand by running well. It would be great if this would lead to people using it and thinking, 'YSS suspension is great!' As for Archi, I think it was a good opportunity to think of new items for the future," said Shimizu.
TOT is attracting a lot of attention from street custom fans. Their success in this new class must have increased the appeal of YSS and Archi, as per the original theme. We would like to keep an eye on this vehicle as well as the company's Z900RS demo motorcycle, which will likely appear with new parts in the future.
Detailed Description

The front master cylinder is a Galespeed VRC, the clutch lever is a Sniper, and the bikini cowl has been changed to an Archie Gills cowl.

The steering stem is standard Z900RS, and is fitted with an ARCHI stem top cap cover made of machined aluminum. The meter cover is also ARCHI carbon.

The side covers are equipped with ARCHI DBI (double bubble intake). The exterior is an original color with YSS and ARCHI logos.

The engine and other parts are standard, but a change rod retainer and billet honeycomb sprocket cover are installed to ensure shifting. The side stand part of the frame has been cut to ensure the bank angle, and an archi billet honeycomb subframe is installed on the frame side, and the effect has been confirmed. It can also be installed at the same time as the genuine accessory engine slider. A hex core protector is installed on the radiator.

The front and rear wheels and brake calipers are genuine, but both brake discs have been replaced with Sunstar Works expanded discs.

The rear shock is a YSS MS456 with HPA. The footpegs are Archi billet honeycomb footpegs, but they have been modified to ensure the banking angle is suitable for racing.

The slash-cut megaphone exhaust system is a prototype from Archi LOUDEX. Development will continue for commercial use for street and racing.
