YAMAHA has released a preview video for what appears to be the new 2025 TENERE 700 in Europe. The TENERE 700 is equipped with the same in-line twin-cylinder 688cc engine as the MT-07, so we can expect a model change similar to that of the new MT-07.
Expectations for new engine with electronically controlled throttle
The TENERE 700 is an adventure model that was released in 2019 and uses the CP2 (parallel twin-cylinder with a 270-degree crank) engine of the MT-07, which debuted in 2014. Everything except the engine is completely new, and it has been very popular to this day due to its high off-road performance that sets it apart from its rivals.
The 2023 model has undergone minor changes such as the adoption of a color TFT meter and improvements to the ABS mode, but no major model changes have been made so far. And since the 2025 MT-07 has undergone a full model change, we can expect the similar Tenere 700 to also transition to a new engine.
If the Tenere 700 adopts the new CP2 engine, it will acquire an electronically controlled throttle, so there is a high possibility of introducing various electronic controls. The MT-07 has newly adopted traction control, cruise control, riding modes, and Y-AMT, so we would like to keep an eye on the evolution of the new Tenere 700.
