KAWASAKI has once again released a teaser video for the Z overseas. The video was posted with the title "REFINEMENT - 30/10/2024", which means "refined" in Japanese. Some of the details of the new motorcycle, which is said to be the new Z, have been confirmed.
Will the new Z have a trellis frame inherited from the Z900?
At the beginning of the video, the word "awesome" appears as in the previous teaser, and the word "REFINEMENT" appears in front of it. This "凄" is thought to represent the "Sugomi Design" that symbolizes KAWASAKI's Streetfighter Z series, and in this video as well, the letter "Z" is engraved on the body of the vehicle. The "Z" is engraved on the body of the vehicle in this video.
First shown is a close-up of the shroud finished in white. The shape of the shroud is a rounded design that has never been seen on previous Z series models, suggesting that this is a completely brand new model. The "Z" logo is clearly engraved on the shroud, and it is now certain that this is a Z series model.
The letter Z is engraved on the rounded shroud. The logo is on the shroud for both the 900 and 1000.
Another thing we can see from this scene is the green frame. Judging from the shape, it is thought to be an iron trellis frame, which is the same specification as the Z900 series. The Z1000 had an aluminum frame, so the shape was completely different and there was no model with a colored frame.
The frame of the new Z is colored green, which is the same feature seen on the 2019-21 Z900. The new Z is expected to be an improved version of the Z900.
This is the frame and engine of the Z900. There are many similarities, such as the position of the radiator cap and the frame shape.
Other features include the gold-finished outer tubes, which are characteristic of the conventional Z900SE. The Kawasaki logo plate and stitched seat appear to reflect the details of the higher-end SE.
The outer tubes shine in gold. Although they have never been used on the Z1000, the Z900 has gold forks on the 2022 "50th Anniversary" and SE models.
The seat stitching has a luxurious feel. It is a feature that was not available on the 900 or 1000, and is somewhat reminiscent of Yamaha's MT series.
There is an aluminum KAWASAKI logo at the end of the stitching. Is it behind the main seat? It really does create a sense of luxury.
The tank shape that appears at the end of the video is similar to both the Z900 and Z1000, so I compared them on the actual bike. As expected, both are similar... but there are some small differences. For example, the Z1000 has a cover on the top of the tank, but the Z900 does not, and instead has a cover around the key cylinder. The tank of the new Z also has a cover around the key cylinder, and the shape of the tank cap is the same as the current Z900, so it's safe to say that the new Z is the Z900.
By the way, the new Z500, which is an enlarged version of the 400, will be introduced at the 2023 Milan Show. Compared to the domestic Z250 and Z400, the main changes have been made to the front face area, but I wonder if similar changes will be seen in the new Z900. At the very least, the shapes of the shroud and meter cover are clearly different, so I'm very excited to see what kind of appearance it will have.
Either way, more details will be revealed soon, so stay tuned for more information.

The Z500 was unveiled at last year's Akema show. Its appearance was sharper and more modern. Will the new Z also have a similar look?
