It's also one of the standards for Ninjas available today.
It's 2024, and I want to get my hands on a GPZ900R (Ninja) and customize it to have fun. It's been a while since production ended in 2003, so the first thing that comes to mind is to look for a good used one. However, when considering maintenance after acquisition and customization, which will naturally come to mind for those reading this article, choosing a shop that is strong in Ninjas or has a proven track record is essential. AC Sanctuary has realized both of these elements by providing a motorcycle. And that vehicle can be said to be the RCM, a complete customization handled by the shop.
RCM (starting with the 572nd motorcycle introduced here, the RCM-572, the name was unified as Radical Construction Manufacture; before that, it was called Real Complete Machine) was established around 2000, while the Ninja was still in production. The latest 17-inch tires were fitted to the front and rear, and the dimensions of the body were changed accordingly. Other than that, the main focus was on chassis updates such as increasing the rigidity of the body by connecting the down tube/footrests as a single unit. Many engines were still in good condition, and even second-hand motorcycles could often be used as they were.
The model equipped with the Ninja engine is called the "RCM Ninja Sports Package Type-R," while the model equipped with the Ninja successor engine used in the ZRX1100/1200 is called the "RCM Ninja Formula Package." Of these, the Sports Package will be replaced by the "New Type-R" in 2015. This is because it has been more than 10 years since the Ninja ended production, and there are fewer good-quality base models available.
An engine overhaul was essential. To accommodate this, original parts for the A16 model (Final Edition) were installed, and the successor model's new electrical system was rewired to match the Ninja. The frame also needed measures to address corrosion at the base of the front cowl mounting bracket, and many other restorations and other additions were needed, so these were included in the production menu.
Details about the parts used and what was covered can be found on Sanctuary's website, but the RCM Ninja being produced now will be introduced and sold in a package called the "RCM Ninja New Type-R Starter Edition," which includes all of the above.
"The wheels are forged, as are the front and rear suspension, stem, and swingarm. We've also carefully selected parts like the carburetor and brakes and repainted the exterior in genuine or original-style colors, so we think you can still enjoy the 17-inch Ninja even with this Starter Edition," says Sanctuary's Nakamura.
"But people who order it almost always go ahead and do partial upgrades or customizations, like the master cylinder and brake calipers."
Rather than a fully OEM motorcycle, this New Type-R Start Edition is perceived as the standard Ninja of today and is added to it in a sense of customization. This motorcycle is a typical example of that. We created the New Type-R Start Edition with the assumption that 'if the Ninja was still being produced, it would have the same specifications,' so we're grateful for your understanding."
This motorcycle was ordered by an owner who already owns an air-cooled Z RCM. He was satisfied with the finish and customization, so he requested that the Ninja also be done by RCM. As of spring 2024, the price of the New Type-R Start Edition (Ver.2023) is $31747.65. Not only has it been completely refurbished from a used model to make it like a new motorcycle, but it is based on a model that has been updated with modern features. It is a solid base that is unique to today. This is why customization has become even more attractive. The New Type-R can be considered one such motorcycle.
Detailed Description

The screen is Nitro Racing. The steering stem is Sculpture TYPE-1, and the offset has been changed from the OEM 40mm to 37mm to ensure the necessary trail with 17 inches front and rear. The meter is based on the OEM, but a Yoshimura progress meter has been added, and the bar-type handlebars are Daytona RCM Concept.

The front brake and clutch master cylinders are mounted with radial pump/variable ratio Brembo RCS.

The exterior is fully painted in red and black, an arrangement of the A8 color scheme. The seat is a Daytona RCM Concept COZY seat, and from these parts you can see the quantification of RCM, i.e. the ability to quickly return to its original shape even if damaged, and the ability to unify the ideal shape, function, and numerical values without becoming fragmented.

The bottom of the swingarm pivot of the frame (the part that extends from the bottom of the main part sandwiched between the swingarm to the left and right and supports the step plate) was once cut, extended outward and re-welded to ensure a chain line according to the wider rear tire. The rearsets kit and clutch release plate are Nitro Racing.

The engine underwent a full overhaul, starting with a hydraulic test. It was fitted with φ73mm Vossner forged pistons to make it a 930cc model, and DiNx, a company that specializes in internal combustion engine processing, performed crank correction, dynamic balancing, and journal wrapping. The New Type-R's special sintered alloy oversized valve guides were also replaced by DiNx, and the seats were also cut. The exterior was given a guncoat finish. The cooling system was also strengthened with a Nitro Racing big radiator. The frame was also checked and modified, and the Nitro Racing Combination KIT III was added.

The carburetor is a TMR-MJN φ38mm with a Yoshimura dual stack funnel. The two-stage funnel is black and red to match the body color.

The front forks are equipped with Ohlins RWU through the Nobrest E×M package, and the front fender/caliper support are also included in the package. The front brakes use Brembo axial 4-piston calipers + Sunstar Premium Racing Disc "RCM" concept φ320 hole type.

The rear suspension is a KA203 with 17-inch Ohlins wheels, combined with a wide swingarm made specifically for Sculpture R.C.M. The drive chain is a narrow-body EL530RCM BK;GP (black x gold) made by Enuma Chain, which has a narrow plate width while still ensuring strength.

The rear brake is a Brembo 2P caliper + Sunstar traditional disc, and the front and rear wheels are O.Z Racing forged aluminum, GASS RS-A 3.50-17/5.50-17 sizes.
