ADSS97 responded to its early exit from the 24 Heures Motos by issuing an “onwards and upwards” pledge.

The Kawasaki-powered outfit from Great Britain was on course to finish the FIM Endurance World Championship season opener last month in the Superstock top 10 until an engine issue shortly before 15 hours of racing dictated otherwise.

A statement from the Dunlop-supplied Superstock squad, which featured an-all British riding quartet of Stefan Hill, Chris Platt, Chris Walker plus new recruit Joe Akroyd, read: Our race ended prematurely as we approached 6am and 15 hours of the 24-hour race with a terminal engine issue.

The engine was stripped yesterday by the guru that is Jeb at MSS Performance Ltd and the cause was found. A valve spring failed and therefore the mechanical noise we heard was the valve hitting the top of the piston.

We have been racing ZX10Rs since 2017, including five 24-hour race finishes, and this is the first engine failure we have ever had and just a freak failure of one small part.

Onwards and upwards, thanks again for the support of everyone. See you at Spa.

The inaugural 8 Hours of Spa Motos takes place at the legendary Belgian track from 6-8 June. Click HERE for ticket information.
