The standard model is a YZR500 replica, but it can be further transformed with an exterior set!
Based on the XSR900, which was fully changed for the 2022 model year, the XSR900GP was given an exterior reminiscent of the WGP machine of the 1980s, the YZR500.
The riding position has been rearranged to be more racy with a newly designed separate handlebar and position-adjustable step. The chassis has also been refined with a new suspension setup, aluminum steering stem, and longer swingarm.
It is a half-cowl in the normal configuration, but an under-cowl is available as an OEM-installed option and can be converted to a full cowl.
The body colors are white and red, like the Marlboro colors that symbolized the YZR of the 1980s, and black and silver, reminiscent of the 1991 TZR250R (3XV) and other models.
This alone is truly nostalgic, but two more 80s-style exterior sets appear on standby.
The actual XSR900GP will be on display at the Yamaha booth at the Motorcycle Show (starting now referred to as "MC Show") to be held in Osaka on March 15. At the same time, a world-premiere exterior set will be on display for reference.

Two XSR900GPs, which are scheduled to go on sale, are equipped with an exterior set of accessories by Wise Gear as reference exhibits.

Exterior set White/Red is installed. Pillion footpeg and tandem belt are removed from the vehicle presented here.

The same model is equipped with the exterior set White/Dark Blue, which is also a reference exhibit accessory.

Standard XSR900GP. The single-seat cowl is for reference only, and the under-cowl is likely to be sold separately by Wise Gear.
White and red are Marlboro-colored YZR500-style, with the upper cowl and rail sides painted yellow in a number space style.
A modern reproduction of the coveted 2-stroke replica flagship RZV500R!
Details of the exterior sets have not yet been released, but these are a tribute to the RZV500R and FZ400R racer replicas from the 1980s. Let's first look at the details of the exterior set White/Red. The white and red body color with dark blue lines is exactly the RZV500R.

The RZV500R debuted in 1984 with a liquid-cooled 2-stroke cc V-type 4-cylinder mounted on an aluminum frame. It was a dream machine that brought together the best of Yamaha technology and gave it a mechanical design similar to the GP machine YZR500. The maximum output was 64 PS, but the export version produced 88 PS.

This is the RZV500R with the optional single-seat cowl. This is closer to the exterior set.

Right next to the exterior set white/red. Do you want the wheels to be gold?

Exterior set White/red upper cowl.

Unlike STD, the logo is also in a typeface reminiscent of the 80s, such as "V4" for RZV500R and "FZ" (see below).

The tank and the top of the single-seat cowl also feature lines similar to those on the RZV. A seat stopper is also likely to be equipped.

The standard tail does not have the YAMAHA logo, but the exterior set does.
Jointly developed with a TT-F3 racer, the FZR400R comes back to life in 2022!
Then, here are the details of the exterior set White/Dark Blue. The colors are similar to those of the FZ400R, a 4-stroke replica born in 1984. The FZ400R was a direct descendant of the FZR400, the racer that won the first TT-F3 championship and became very popular at the time.

Like the RZV500R, the FZ400R was introduced in 1984. It had a 4-stroke inline 4-cylinder engine mounted on a steel frame and was jointly developed with the TT-F3 works racer, the FZR400.

Like the FZ400R and XSR900GP, an optional under-cowl was also released at that time. The vehicle equipped with the under-cowl looks just like the exterior set.

The FZ400R has been fully cowled since the 1987 model year. Strobe lines are slightly different from the exterior set.

The FZ750 debuted in 1985 and was the first to use GNESIS. It is somewhat similar, but the tail area is completely different.

Right next to the exterior set is white/dark blue. Various reference accessories will be installed.

The upper cowl is fitted with a smoked lean for reference.

The Akrapovic full exhaust system is a reference exhibit. Like the one for the XSR900 (approx. 1815 USD), it is believed to employ an elliptical titanium silencer and stainless steel exhaust pipe.

A tail tidy kit was also exhibited for reference. This kit is designed to make the tail area more compact and tighter.
It is believed to be the same product as the one for the XSR900 (approx. 243 USD), and has the XSR logo laser-engraved on the side.
Will the exterior set be available as early as fall, after the vehicle is released?
Yamaha has announced that the XSR900GP will be released in Japan after summer 2024.
It seems that this exterior set will be released later than the vehicle. If this is the case, will it appear in the fall at the earliest? The entire exterior set comes pre-painted.
The price has not yet been determined.
The XSR900GP strikes a chord with old men who spent their youth in the 1980s. The exterior set adds to its charm. For riders who rode those machines back then, or for those who wanted to buy one but couldn't, this set is sure to bring tears of joy to your eyes. It will be fun to change the exterior to suit your mood!
