Honda will launch the 2024 model year of its large adventure sports CRF1100L Africa Twin S (Africa Twin S). In addition, the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES (Africa Twin Adventure Sports ES) equipped with a big tank and Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) versions of each will also be released. A total of four variations will be offered in the lineup.

Both models feature the new engines with increased torque and new exterior shapes that were introduced in Europe last year. In addition, the specifications have changed significantly from the previous models, with a movable screen and tubeless tires on the Standard and 19-inch front wheels on the Adventure Sport.

The launch will be on March 21, 2024 (Thursday), and the price will remain unchanged from the previous version, although it will vary depending on the specifications, with the Standard priced at (approx.) 10899 USD.

In addition to engine strengthening, on-road comfort has been improved! Standard is integrated into [S].

The current Africa Twin series, launched in 2016, is a large adventure sport that bears the name of the former rally-style machine. Initially, the series featured a 998cc liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine, and at the same time, a Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) version was introduced that allowed shifting without the need for clutch operation.
The 2020 model year will see the displacement increased to 1,082 cc, with enhancements such as throttle-by-wire, Riding Mode Select, and an onboard ETC2.0 system. The name has been changed to CRF1100L and the equipment has been revised. The "S" model, equipped with a long fork for improved off-road riding performance, was also introduced at the same time.

Also introduced in 2018, the Adventure Sport version features a larger 24-liter fuel tank and special suspension, making it suitable for longer distances. Along with the displacement increase and specification changes of the Standard, the equipment has been sequentially enhanced here as well, with a DCT version, the ES equipped with electronic suspension, and the S, similar to the Standard. With a wide range of variations to suit the user's purpose, it is the first of Honda's multi-purpose models and is loved by many fans, including those overseas.

Africa Twin [HONDA 1988] The first generation Africa Twin received technical feedback from the works machine NXR750, and was initially sold in Japan in a limited edition of 500 units.

The 2024 model launched this time is the new specification that was introduced at the Milan Show (EICMA) in the fall of 2023. The engine's compression ratio has been increased, and maximum torque has been raised to 11.4 kg-m at 5,500 rpm. In addition, the hydraulic feedback control of the DCT has been revised to enable a more sensitive clutch connection. This has resulted in improved controllability at low speeds and when starting off. The front cowl has new ducts on both sides for improved wind protection.
The new front cowl is designed for comfortable riding at high speeds and over long distances.

The variation development was also changed. The standard model was discontinued.
The CRF1100L Africa Twin S has a new rear cowl, adjustable windscreen, and tubeless tires. The Adventure Sport model is now the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sport ES, and the existing "S" model has been dropped from the lineup. In terms of equipment, the front wheel has been changed to a 19-inch wheel for better performance on rough roads. The DCT version is also available in both models, making a total of four models available.

Each specification will be released on March 21, 2024 (Thursday), with prices varying by specification: (approx.) 10900 USD for the standard CRF1100L Africa Twin S and (approx.) 11632 USD for the CRF1100L Africa Twin DCT S. The CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sport ES is priced at (approx.) 12949 USD, and the CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sport ES DCT at 2,057,000 yen. Both prices remain unchanged from the previous models.
