The Bite, released by Honda in 2002, is the third model of the N Project, a development team composed of young researchers.
Released after Zoomer, Bite pursued slimness.
The simplicity of the design, reminiscent of Zook's reemergence, is appealing.
The N Project was formed to develop a model for young people to incorporate motorcycles into their lives as fashion items, which became prominent in the mid-1990s. After the success of the Ape and Zoomer in 2001, the third model, the Byte, was released in 2002.
Bite, which means "to stimulate" or "to enthuse" in English, was named after the image of "a useful tool to stimulate the lifestyle of young people," featuring BMX-style chrome handlebars and seat for a style as simple and fashionable as a bicycle.
The saddle-type seat had a pillar that could be raised and lowered in the same way as a bicycle, and the seat height could be adjusted in seven steps within a range of 110mm. The company's catalog at the time advertised that a low position would make the rider feel like a low rider, while a high position would make the rider feel like a giraffe with a high line of sight.
Bite's concept is skateboard-like mobility, and it is a reincarnation of the Zuke, which was launched in 1990 with a floor-step board reminiscent of a skateboard. Both the variable-height saddle-type seat and the Zook were inherited from Zook, both of which were short-lived, fantastic vehicles.
