The Carburetor is Sluggish after Being Left Unattended for a While! When that Happens, Suspect Fuel.

WWt_10.jpg How to

If the motorcycle is immobile and has not been run for years, or even if it has not been ridden for only a few months, the engine may start poorly and idle inconsistently.
The suspect in such cases is almost certainly the carburetor or injection system, but here we will unravel the care procedure for minor malfunctions.

How to use spray chemicals this way and that

There are two types of dirt in a carburetor: dirt on the outside that can be seen and dirt on the inside that cannot be seen. Because the outside is dirty, the inside is not necessarily dirty as well, and vice versa, of course. Even in cases where the dirt inside the carburetor = clogged passages, if the problem is minor, there are ways to remedy it using spray chemicals such as those described here.
For example, remove the inlet pipe and spray from the intake side of the carb.
Close the throttle and spray the throttle valve, open the throttle fully and spray the main passage, and then attach a spray nozzle to the lower passage (main air passage and pilot passage) near the intake of the carb.

Wait a few minutes, then turn the key to ON and try to start the engine normally. If there is no so-called initial explosion, keep the throttle fully open and lightly spray highly flammable spray-type parts cleaner into the venturi=main passage, close the throttle, and kick again. In some cases, the initial explosion from the parts cleaner creates a negative intake pressure, which can trigger the engine to start. It is also a good idea not to trust the gasoline in the tank, but to fill the oiler with fresh gasoline and try to start the engine by pouring gasoline into the carburetor from the oiler. This is because the gasoline in the tank is not always in good condition.

Even if the gasoline in the carburetor is drained, the remaining gas in the gasoline tank is difficult to remove. In such cases, Daytona's gasoline deterioration inhibitor works wonderfully. When our staff used this product, the gasoline did not go bad if left in the tank for about a year, and the engine was able to start and run normally. It is one thing to rely on high-performance chemicals, but when storing gasoline for a long period of time, it is best to drain all the gasoline from the tank and let it dry out.

Surprisingly common starting problems due to a sticking starter

The starter function is used in both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines. In contrast to the choke, which opens and closes a butterfly valve at the entrance of the main passageway for intake air, the starter function allows a large amount of gasoline to be sucked in only when the engine is started. This is the difference between a choke and a starter. Here, we focus on the conditions around the starter valve.
For a completely cold engine, starting is not good without the starter function, even in summer.

There are actually many cases where this starter valve is dirty or the residual gas has deteriorated, making the starter valve inoperable. If the starter lever does not move when pulled, or if the movement is heavy, try loosening the starter valve fixation, pulling out the valve, and cleaning the valve itself or the starter valve holder with chemical spray on the carburetor side. There are actually many cases where a sticking starter valve is a cause of severely reduced starting performance.
