Eliminator 250V (249cc)Owner: Gojira

This corner introduces one MY BIKE submitted to Webike Community every week.
The model introduced this time is Kawasaki「Eliminator 250V」and the owner is "Gojira user".

This is the article that is getting a lot of attention on WebikePlus this October.

The Kawasaki Eliminator 250 may be making a comeback, and the Eliminator 250, which still lacks a model of the same character, seems to be hotly anticipated. Although the Eliminator 250 was unique in its cruiser style (seat height was the same as the Rebel 250) with a high-powered parallel-twin engine derived from a sports model, it underwent a major model change in 1998, and everything from the engine to its appearance was changed. It became the Eliminator 250V.

While the styling is the same as that of the previous eliminator with a low center of gravity, the engine has been changed to a newly designed liquid-cooled V-twin. The fatter tank has an increased capacity of 13 liters, and the flat seat is very comfortable. The handlebars were changed to a full-fledged riser bar style.
At the time, it was competing with the Yamaha Virago 250 and Honda Magna 250, which had already appeared on the market.

The Eliminator 250V, however, was not a model that could be used for gentle cruising, but in fact, its high-revving engine, which produced 35 PS at 12,500 rpm, the highest output among its rivals, gave it a reputation as a cruiser that could be driven briskly. Yet, with its stable low and long stance and comfortable ride, it was a versatile machine that could do just about anything. It is no exaggeration to say that it is a versatile machine that can handle anything.

Mr. Gojira's Eliminator 250V is basically standard, but the headlight has been customized with modern LEDs using a homemade stay. It has been a long time since the sales of the Eliminator 250V were stopped, so it is hard to find a few exclusive custom parts for it.

One of the users who was attracted by the multipurpose nature of the motorcycle was Mr. Gojira.
He selected this model because he was fed up with the power of large motorcycles. He said that this was the only model that satisfied his desires for fun and safety, but also for fun on the gas pedal, riding in town, shopping, and on highways, and a sense of ownership in spite of his ease of use.

The motorcycle has been ridden for more than 10 years, with the following 4 good points listed: large size, powerful engine, lightweight and low seat height, and cruiser-like appearance. He has also customized the motorcycle to his liking by installing LED headlights and fork boots. Of course, there are some things that he is not satisfied with, but he is sure that this is an attractive motorcycle that he can continue to ride for a long time.

The large body, wide seat area, and raised riser-bar handlebars give the rider a relaxed posture.
Yet, on highways, it offers sporty acceleration that matches the power of the engine, making it a model that can be said to meet the needs of the rider.

FROM MY BIKE COMMENTS

Motive for purchase

I bought this motorcycle because I was fed up with the power of big bikes.

I want to enjoy and ride safely because it's tiring to run frantically with my eyes triangulated.
But I want a motorcycle that is fun to ride on the gas pedal.
I ride around town, go shopping, and ride at high speeds.
I want a motorcycle that is easy to ride, but I also want a sense of ownership.
This was the only motorcycle I could find that satisfied my selfish needs.

Advantages

- Anyway, it is big.
It is thinner than Drakster 400, but it seems larger than Magna 250 because of the width of the fuel tank. It looks more powerful when you straddle it.
If it were only for its size, it would look as good as a liter-plus cruiser.

- An energetic engine.
When it comes to Elimi, it's the engine.
Kawasaki's first and only 250 liquid-cooled V-twin sports engine.
The engine runs smoothly up to 14,000 RPM, and even at 2,000 RPM, it runs smoothly.
It has more of a swish than a thump.
It turns well despite its long wheelbase.

- Lightweight. Low seat.
Total weight of 186kg, light for a cruiser. (It is heavy for a 250, though.) The seat height is 690mm, so the footing is firm.
The seat height is 690mm, so it is easy to put your feet up.
I've been riding for more than 10 years and I've never even felt like I'm going to stumble.

- Cruiser look with common round eye lights.
In the past, this was still considered a sleek design, but nowadays it would be called a classic.
There are almost no exclusive custom parts, and parts cannot be attached without diversion/modification, but that is rather an advantage. It's fun to think about how to put them on, and you will never meet the same custom specifications. That's what customization is all about, isn't it?

Disadvantages

- Poor fuel economy. 16~23km/L.
(16km/L when opening the gun, 23km/L when driving at 70km/h on highways with very low fuel consumption)
It doesn't blow and accelerates at high altitudes (over 1000m). It becomes full of energy just to ride.

- Step rubbing.
It's fun to pick up the pace on the mountain passes, but you'll scrape the steps.

- I don't use it with others first.
I don't use it so much that I get lonely.

Address to prospective buyers

I think the last one is around the 2007 model year.
If you buy this bike, it is better to replace all consumable parts such as rubber hoses, cables, etc., because it is already old. (The front fork also needs to be replaced with a new inner tube (about 50,000 including labor).
The carburetor also needs to be overhauled. Tires and brake pads should be changed if they are worn out.
Buying a used motorcycle that has been fully serviced and inspected, even if it costs a little more, may be cheaper than buying a cheap motorcycle that has not been serviced.
